Job Description

The Student Ministry Pastor leads all aspects of the ministry to students in grades 6 through 12 and their families in the life of the church.

 

Qualifications

The Student Ministry Pastor must sense a call to ministry, including:

·      Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

·      Support the leadership of a pastor led, deacon served, staff equipped, committee supported, and congregationally affirmed church

·      Confirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as his statement of belief

·      Uphold the unity of the church in the bonds of peace (Ephesians 4:3)

·      Be able to share the Gospel

·      Possess effective communication and organization skills with volunteer teams

·      Embody the spirit and biblical example of servanthood

·      Have experience in a like church

·      Be ordained in a church of like faith and practice

·      Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

 

Description of Responsibilities

·      32 office hours per week and availability Sunday mornings, Wednesday evening, special events, First Intro Meals, and on Sunday evenings.

·      Report to Associate Pastor

·      Assist church staff as assigned

·      Recruit, equip, empower, organize, and oversee volunteers

·      Relate and minister to Parents and Families

·      Execute special assignments from Senior Pastor

·      Have competency in First Baptist Ministry Cycle: goal setting, planning (determine environment and budget), collaborating, communicating, promoting, recruiting/equipping, executing, following-up and assimilating, celebrating, and evaluating

·      Pastors will not be permitted to pursue concurrent employment opportunities.

 

Priorities

·      Evangelism and Mission

o  Share the Gospel weekly with lost students and lost parents of students, individually and corporately

o  Coordinate a strategy for evangelizing and baptizing lost students and parents, including frequent training for students and leaders in having Gospel conversations

o  Equip students to share the Gospel, especially at school

o  Engage with students where they are – schools, sporting events, etc. – in order to build personal relationships with them

o  Lead students to be directly involved in missions – locally, nationally, and globally – with families, the student group, and the full body of Christ

·      Weekly Activities

o  Provide leadership and direction to equip volunteers and leaders to fulfill the church’s mission through Student Ministry

o  Identify, recruit and train adult volunteers

o  Provide ongoing training for volunteers and leaders

o  Ensure volunteers and leaders follow Student Ministry policies and procedures

o  Submit and file background checks for new volunteers and leaders

o  Manage Student Ministry budget

o  Oversee the ministry cycle with Life Groups and Youth Group

o  Ensure Youth Group focuses on outreach by gathering students and incorporating dynamic worship and an inspirational message

o  Ensure Life Groups on Sunday mornings are welcoming and focused on student discipleship

o  Implement and manage curriculum and Curriculum Map

o  Provide content/curriculum guidance to volunteer leaders

o  Weekly visitor follow-up

o  Manage and coordinate promotion Sundays

o  Prepare Scripture-based lessons which utilize a variety of approaches for active, hands-on learning

o  Arrive early for greeting and stay late for break down

 

·      Programming

o  Plan Student Ministry activities and events

o  Work with ministry staff to create a comprehensive assimilation strategy that connects visiting students and their families to First Baptist’s ministries

o  Show a marked increase in membership, attendance, and baptisms

o  Develop and manage a welcome strategy for Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings including volunteers and positions of service that assist in connecting visiting students and leaders

o  Communicate with parents, students and the congregation at-large through the effective use of calls, correspondence, electronic communication and social media

Founded in 2008, First Baptist Brandon Christian Academy is a vital part of First Baptist Church of Brandon, serving the greater Brandon and Hillsborough County areas. At this pivotal moment in our history, we are seeking a new Head of School to lead us toward continued growth, academic excellence, and spiritual vitality. Our mission is to provide a Christ centered education which nurtures students to excel academically, socially, and spiritually.
