Full Job Description

First Baptist Church of Lexington, MO is seeking a Music Minister who has a passion for worship and leading people in worship. While we are looking for someone with experience, knowledge and ability, attitude is as important as

giftedness or skill. The right candidate will need to be proficient in leading both a choir and praise band for a blended worship experience. Creativity and charisma are highly valued. Ideally, we are looking for an individual who will not only see this as a job, but will make a personal commitment to this congregation which welcomes all people.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Lead Music for Sunday morning worship service (10:30 a.m.), and seasonal, as well as any special services/observances throughout the year. Wednesday evening rehearsals.

• Work closely with the Ministerial staff in preparing to prepare weekly service layout.

• Lead choir rehearsal and praise team practice at least one night a week • Chair/Lead/Build the choir and praise team.

• Network with musicians and singers through-out the community in order to recruit people and grow the music program, as well as children and youth music programs.

• Must have a growing and maturing but not perfect relationship with Jesus Christ and a strong desire for the church to succeed and grow. • Report directly to the Pastor.

• Up to 7 days of paid vacation time to start after 6 months • Responsible for getting a replacement, in consultation with the pastor, when taking time off

• Requires 15-20 hours per week

Schedule:

• Sundays and Wednesday evenings and other time required to assemble weekly music ministry.

Ability to commute and/or relocate:

• Position is in Lexington, Missouri 64067: Individual should be consistently available if they will commute, or they should relocate before starting work (Requirement)

Work Location: The position is at the First Baptist Church in Lexington, MO Terms of Employment

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or demonstrable equivalent experience in worship music.

• Must pass a background.

• Knowledge of and experience in sacred music.

• Knowledge of and ability in musical instruments – guitar and piano strongly preferred.

• Skills in recruiting, directing, and leading music team and choir members.

• At least one rehearsal with the choir and the band, as well as one worship service, will be required in order to evaluate the candidate’s fit for our music ministry.

Evaluation

• Evaluation of the Music Minister conducted by the Deacon Chair Committee.

• New Music Minister will be reviewed after six months by the Search Committee.
