Job Overview
The Organist serves as an integral member of our worship team by providing music for traditional worship services, choir rehearsals, and special services throughout the church year. This position works collaboratively with the Senior Pastor, Worship Arts Minister, Traditional Music Leader, and choir leadership to create meaningful worship experiences.
Duties
- Play organ and piano for weekly Sunday traditional worship services.
- Provide prelude, postlude, hymns, service music, and offertories as needed.
- Accompany the choir when requested.
- Other special services as needed. Special Services include but are not limited to Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday
- Provide music for weddings, funerals, and other traditional music ministry events as available.
- Communicate promptly when unavailable and assist in securing a substitute musician.
- Collaborate with church staff and worship leaders in planning worship music.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in organ and piano literature appropriate for traditional worship;
- Ability to accompany congregational singing, hymns, liturgical responses, and choral music;
- Familiarity with United Methodist worship traditions preferred;
- Dependability, preparation, and strong communication;
- Ability to work collaboratively with pastors, staff, choir leadership, and volunteers.
