Associate Pastor, Amelia Christian Church


Description of Work

The Associate Pastor is a full‐time position that reports to the Pastor and the Board of Elders. This position leads Amelia Christian Church in its ministry to families with children/youth from new‐born through college.

  • Innovative and creative ideas to capture interest and commitment of youth


Credentials

The Associate Pastor position requires a 4 year Bachelor’s Degree related to ministry; preference will be given for applicants completing or pursuing their Master’s Degree. Applicant must be a Christian and reflect Christian

principles in all behavior and actions.


Primary Responsibilities

Middle/Senior Youth Ministry (50%)

Strengthen the faith of our middle, senior and college students. Create and provide youth with opportunities to share their faith

  • Encourage students to discover and use their gifts to become involved in worship leadership and support
  • Provide regular meetings/activities for Middle and Senior Youth Group students that balance strong
  • Christian faith with a fun safe supportive atmosphere
  • Strive to increase our Youth Group active participation and provide outreach events
  • Lead/direct the older youth and college age to mentor younger youth
  • Identify youth and family service opportunities in the church and community
  • Plan/Coordinate fund‐raisers for the Youth Program to sustain the outings and mission trips
  • Develop/manage a budget for the Youth Program


Beginner/Elementary Youth Ministry (25%)

  • Provide leadership and oversight to ministries for families with children
  • Oversee the Children’s Church Director and programs
  • Collaborate with parent leaders to provide regular and special event meetings
  • Lead confirmation and baptism class
  • Collaborate with Christian Education Committee to provide Vacation Bible School


Pastoral Ministry – All ages (25%)

  • General pastoral responsibilities as directed by the Senior Pastor, including, but not limited to, leading worship, preaching, leading bible studies or other training classes, baptisms, weddings, funerals, and visitations
  • Partner with the Senior Pastor and appropriate committees in the area of family ministry
  • Collaborate in the creation of new ministries as opportunities and needs arise
  • Nurture families to strengthen their relationship with Christ and with each other
  • Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers
