Next Generation Minister

The Next Generation Minister will oversee ministry to preschool, children, youth, and lead ministry with young adults. This person will work with staff and volunteers to reach the next generation and create a seamless, Christ-centered discipleship pathway from birth to adulthood. The ideal candidate is a team-builder with strong leadership skills, a heart for families, and a passion for equipping the next generation to follow Jesus.

Some Key Responsibilities

• Vision and Strategy: Cast and implement a unified vision and strategy for all "NextGen" ministries (Preschool, Children, Youth, and Young Adults) that aligns with the church's overall mission.
• Ministry Oversight & Leadership: Provide direct leadership and guidance to the staff and volunteer teams within the various NextGen ministries. This involves leading a team of paid part-time staff members and volunteers.
• Discipleship and Programming: Ensure that age-appropriate, biblically sound, and culturally relevant programs (weekly gatherings, small groups, events, camps, retreats) are developed and executed to help young people grow in their faith through oversight of NextGen ministers and within the Young Adult Ministry.
• Seamless Transitions: Create systems and processes that ensure smooth transitions for children and students as they move from one age-group ministry to the next (e.g., from children's to youth ministry, and on to college/young professional, and into the main church body).
• Parent Partnership: Actively engage with parents and families, providing resources, support, and consistent communication to equip them as the primary spiritual leaders in their homes. Help create community by providing opportunities for whole-family fellowship and discipleship.
• Outreach and Community Presence: Develop strategies and encourage staff/volunteers to be present in the local community, such as attending school events or building relationships with school organizations, to reach the next generation beyond the church walls.
• Volunteer Recruitment & Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and retain a high-capacity team of adult and student volunteers to foster a healthy volunteer culture.
• Young Adult Ministry: Lead ministries to reach and disciple young adults.

First Baptist Cove is a long-established church, founded in 1885, with a great opportunity to reach people from all over our country and world for Christ. We are located on the west side of Fort Hood which is home to about 35,000 active-duty soldiers and their families. The population of Copperas Cove is also about 35,000 people. Due to the presence of the military, we have a large population of millennials and Gen Zs. Much of the rest of the population consists of retired soldiers, government employees, and school district employees.

We state our vision as "A multi-generational church reaching the next generations for Christ." We gear our major outreach efforts around the young families who populate our city. We currently have 300 to 375 people attending on an average Sunday morning. Our worship style is blended. We use a band and vocal team to lead. Our desire is to be contemporary while not abandoning all that is traditional.
