The Worship Pastor leads the day-to-day execution of the worship ministry at Doxa Church. This role is responsible for planning and leading worship gatherings, developing volunteer worship teams, implementing the vision established by the Lead Pastor of Worship Ministries, and creating excellent, Christ-centered worship environments that support the mission of the church.
The Worship Pastor serves as the primary leader of weekly worship ministry operations, equipping volunteers, coordinating worship teams, and ensuring worship services are prepared and executed with excellence.
WEEKEND WORSHIP LEADERSHIP
- Serve as the primary worship leader for Sunday gatherings and major church-wide services as assigned.
- Lead worship for Sunday main services (approximately 42 weekends per year, with the purpose and expectation to fill in especially when the Lead Pastor of WM is not present).
- Lead worship for auxiliary opportunities and all special services.
- Collaborate with worship staff to create engaging Christ-centered worship experiences that support the preaching and discipleship of Doxa Church.
- Lead worship rehearsals and ensure teams are prepared spiritually and musically.
SERVICE PLANNING & EXECUTION
- Plan worship services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor of Worship Ministries and other worship staff through song selection, arrangements, transitions, scripture readings, and other liturgical elements consistent with the worship philosophy of Doxa Church.
- Coordinate service details with production and ministry teams.
- Ensure worship gatherings are executed with excellence and consistency.
- Oversee the preparation of charts, tracks, resources, and rehearsal materials for volunteer teams through the delegation to the Music Director.
VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
- Recruit, audition, onboard, and develop worship volunteers.
- Shepherd and encourage musicians, vocalists, and worship leaders.
- Provide regular coaching, feedback, and encouragement to worship team members.
- Foster a healthy and enjoyable team culture.
WORSHIP TEAM LEADERSHIP
- Lead and oversee worship rehearsals.
- Build teams that are spiritually healthy, relationally connected, and musically prepared.
- Identify and develop emerging worship leaders.
- Assist in implementing leadership development processes established by the Lead Pastor of Worship Ministries.
STUDENT WORSHIP MINISTRY
- Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for the worship culture within Doxa Students.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and support student and adult worship volunteers through hands-on coaching and ministry opportunities.
- Plan & coordinate worship for student gatherings, camps, retreats, and special events.
- Step into direct worship leading with students when necessary while prioritizing the development of others to lead.
KIDS WORSHIP MINISTRY
- Provide oversight for worship within Doxa Kids.
- Recruit, train, schedule and support volunteer leaders who can effectively lead worship for children, creating consistent and engaging worship experiences for kids that are age-appropriate and aligned with Doxa Church’s worship philosophy.
- Plan & coordinate weekly services, providing resources and direction for volunteer leaders to execute.
MINISTRY ADMINISTRATION
- Manage the worship team, coordinating and communicating.
- Maintain Planning Center and other ministry systems.
- Coordinate worship ministry resources and equipment needs with production staff.
- Ensure worship ministry environments are organized and prepared for ministry in conjunction with the production staff.
- Manage and maintain worship team equipment and gear.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate, growing, personal relationship with Him.
- Be a member of Doxa Church and wholeheartedly embrace the doctrine, mission, and worship philosophy of Doxa.
- This person must be humble, loyal, trustworthy, capable, flexible, detail-oriented, able to hold confidences, and have a servant’s heart. In addition, this individual must be able to comprehend and implement the vision and initiatives of Doxa Church and possess excellent clerical, organizational, and computer skills with good interpersonal competencies.
- Be able to lead, train, and develop their team relating to life and ministry.
- Meet the biblical qualifications for an elder (1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4).
- Possess extensive vocal and musical ability, including the ability to lead contemporary worship bands. Competence in arranging and customizing songs/sets.
- Proficient knowledge and experience running playback DAW’s such as Ableton or equivalent.
- Be a self-starter with drive, passion, and initiative.
- Have a teachable and humble spirit and be willing to be accountable.
