Job Description

TITLE:                             Student Ministries Director (South Hills Campus)

REPORTS TO:                Campus Pastor

DIRECT REPORTS:        Student Ministries Admin, Serve Team

CLASSIFICATION:         Regular / Full time / Exempt

WestGate Church is a community of people learning and living the way of Jesus in Silicon Valley. As a church, we exist to be and to make disciples, daily formed into the image of Christ, as we love God, our neighbors, and one another.

The South Hills Campus is our second largest campus hosting services in both English and Spanish. The Student Ministries Director will serve as the primary leader, shepherd, and advocate for middle and high school students at our South Hills campus and is responsible for implementing our Student Ministry Playbook, partnering with families to lead students to say YES to Jesus and passionately follow him. The Student Ministry Director will focus on middle & high school students, leading through our student serve team.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in leading and recruiting others to serve in Student Ministry, a passion for local middle and high school students, and a history of growing a ministry spiritually and numerically.

Always point students to Jesus - the hero of the human story - compelling students toward the incredible story of the Bible so that they might build a faith that is their own. Inspire and equip students to identify and join God in the work he’s doing in and through their lives.

Do everything within your power to create environments that are physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually safe for every student and parent.

Set the bar in pursuing a high level of fun and creativity in every area of student ministry—gatherings, teaching, content, communication, structure, and environments—in order to compel students to lean in and engage God, our leaders, and one another.

Structure student ministry so students develop consistent, long-term relationships with fellow students and their leaders. Consistency + duration = impact.

Invite students to use their gifts and talents to contribute to a purpose greater than themselves, believing they can make a significant impact in the Church and in the world NOW.

Leverage the two greatest influences in the world - church and home - working together to reach the next generation.

Equip our students to reach their friends and their campuses with the Good News about Jesus - the unchurched and unengaged students in the Bay Area who need the hope of the Gospel. Make the first move & by having a presence in the local middle and high schools.

Identify, recruit, and develop an adult serve team, student leadership team, and preaching team - following the correct WG process. Oversee and lead paid staff if applicable (i.e. student administrator).

Maintain data of Sunday morning and mid week event attendance and serve team attendance. Schedule serve team for weekend service. Oversee ministry budget and expenditures. Ensure curriculum is organized and assembled each week.
