Position Overview:

The Executive Director- Family Lane /Pastor is responsible for overseeing the Family, Student, Youth, and Children’s Ministries at Purcellville Baptist Church (PBC). This leadership role is vision-driven and requires the individual to be self-directed with a deep passion for innovation to meet the needs of our rapidly growing church. The Family Lane Leader will guide a dynamic team to disciple and serve the growing demographic of families, students, and children within the church, ensuring they are supported, nurtured, and connected. The role is focused on building a strong team of volunteer staff that will support PBC’s expanding congregation. Most importantly, this position requires a strong connection with God, an understanding of personal gifting, and a sense of being called by God to serve PBC’s congregation. The Family Lane Leader will also be committed to their own personal and spiritual growth while encouraging others to do the same. Leadership development is central to all leadership roles at PBC, and this role is no exception.

Key Responsibilities:

Management and Oversight

•             Lead and oversee the Family, Student, Youth, and Children’s Ministries, ensuring they are aligned with PBC’s vision and values.

•             Foster a vision-driven environment where leaders are encouraged to innovate, adapt, and meet the evolving needs of the church.

•             Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and accountability to a young and developing team, modeling professional excellence and cultivating confidence, competence, and consistency in ministry execution.

•             Build and empower a self-directed, innovative team that can effectively serve our growing congregation. Cultivate a culture of leadership development within the team and ministry.

•             Recruit, train, and equip a strong team of volunteer leaders, providing them with the resources, tools, and support necessary to engage families, students, and children in meaningful ministry.

•             Organize and oversee impactful, engaging events and programs for families, children, youth, and students that foster spiritual growth and build connections within the church.

•             Lead planning meetings for upcoming events, addressing logistical needs and ensuring effective communication with ministry leaders and volunteers.

•             Collaborate with the Worship, Discipleship, and Administrative teams to ensure ministry alignment with the church’s overall goals and strategic direction.

•             Assess the effectiveness of each ministry area, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure growth, engagement, and spiritual development.

•             Develop long-term strategic goals for the Family, Student, Youth, and Children’s Ministries that align with PBC’s goals and vision.

•             Ensure clear, timely, and effective communication for all Family, Student, Youth, and Children’s Ministries, both internally with the staff and externally with the congregation.

 

Pastoral

•             Serve as the primary point of contact for family-related concerns and opportunities, ensuring families feel supported, connected, and nurtured.

•             Oversee and coordinate efforts for youth, students, and children’s ministries, ensuring they meet the spiritual and developmental needs of our growing congregation.

•             Regularly check in with ministry leaders to assess needs, growth strategies, and the overall spiritual impact of the programs.

•             Ensure that all programs and events align with PBC’s vision of discipleship, outreach, and community involvement.

•             Equip volunteers with resources, training, and opportunities for spiritual development to foster a sense of purpose and commitment.

•             Lead efforts to attract new families to PBC, ensuring the ministry meets the needs of the growing family demographic.

•             Create a welcoming environment for new families, ensuring they are quickly integrated into the church community.

•             If ordained, will officiate weddings and funerals as part of their pastoral responsibilities.

•             Provide pastoral counseling and care to families and individuals, offering biblical guidance and support during difficult life seasons.

•             Work alongside church leadership to provide counseling resources for marriage, parenting, grief, and other spiritual struggles.

•             Shepherd and mentor staff within the Family Lane, fostering spiritual growth and leadership development.

 

Weekly Focus Areas & Tasks:

•             Weekly Team Leadership Meeting: Lead team meetings with Ministry leads (Student, Youth, and Children’s Ministries) to review events, ministry goals, and progress.

•             Volunteer Check-ins: Connect regularly with volunteers to ensure they are supported and equipped in their roles.

•             Program Oversight: Monitor ongoing programs and events, ensuring that resources and logistical needs are addressed in a timely manner.

•             Family Engagement: Plan and implement at least one family-focused event or initiative each month.

•             Leadership Development: Focus on developing the leadership of staff and volunteers, providing them with the support and training they need to grow in their roles.

•             Strategic Planning & Reporting: Provide regular progress reports to the Senior Pastor on Family Lane goals and ministry development.

Key Attributes & Qualifications:

While PBC’s goal is that this role be filled with a Pastor, exceptions may be considered for the right candidate.

•             Strong leadership skills and managerial proficiency with experience in family, youth, and/or children’s ministry are required.

•             Alignment with PBC’s statement of beliefs.

•             Passionate about ministering to families, students, and children and fostering spiritual growth.

•             Strong organizational, communication, and administrative skills are required.

•             Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing church environment while prioritizing key responsibilities.

•             Experience in pastoral counseling, with the ability to provide spiritual care for families and individuals is preferred.

•             A deep, personal connection with God and an understanding of personal spiritual gifting.

•             Alignment with PBC’s vision of helping every person experience real life in Christ.

•             To serve as a Pastor-individual must be ordained (or willing to be ordained) as a Pastor or licensed by PBC as a minister, with a commitment to shepherding the Family Lane team and others within the family ministries.

 

Work Hours:

Full-time, Sunday – Thursday, with flexibility for evening and weekend events as needed.
