ABOUT HARVEST KIDS | CHILDREN’S DIRECTOR, EAST HUB
Summary of Primary Purpose
Provide leadership and oversight of the Children’s Ministry across three of the six campuses at Harvest Bible Chapel. This role will have primary responsibility for the Rolling Meadows campus Children's Ministry but will provide coaching and oversight to the Children's Ministry teams at the Chicago and North Shore campuses.
The Director will successfully lead the development and execution of goals and objectives ensuring all events and curriculums appropriately support the vision, mission, beliefs, doctrine and direction of the church. In addition, the Director will ensure the safety, security, compliance, volunteer coordination, training and certification, events, prayer. projects, budgets and all aspects of staffing (i.e. performance, feedback and development).
Scope of role
- Recruiting, equipping and empowering volunteers and staff.
- Budget responsibility for designated campuses.
- Safety and security compliance for all staff and volunteers adhering to all regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead spiritual direction of Harvest Kids under the direction of the Campus Pastors.
- Develop a team of staff and volunteers based on biblical principles and values.
- Ensure curriculum selected and/or developed is age appropriate.
- Ensure leaders/volunteers are equipped to effectively teach children.
- Use creativity and innovation for events planning and activity development for children to experience and learn about Jesus. Help families understand their journey together as a family.
- Work cross functionally on the development of policy and procedures regarding child protection, safety, security, In His Image, volunteer certification, etc. Oversee policies and procedures to ensure adherence including certification and training as needed/required.
- Hold team (staff and volunteers) accountable to expectations.
- Oversee and manage budget for all income and expenses.
- Oversee and support children and families during weekend services and events.
- Develop trusted relationships with teams, children and families to effectively respond to concerns, solve problems arising in and out of classrooms, child discipline, and feedback.
- Ensure all compliance items and investigations are documented and reported as required, including proper authorities.
- Maintain high integrity and confidentiality with all relationships.
- Schedule is non-traditional work hours (includes weekends and evenings) with flexibility during the week to provide work-life balance.
Ministry Duties/Expectations
- Personal and growing relationship with Jesus and a humility to testify to it.
- Ability to explain “What Harvest Bible Chapel Believes.”
- Ability to pray with other employee’s, guest and attenders of the church.
- Be an active, engaged and accountable member of a Harvest Bible Chapel community group.

- Ability to recruit and develop others (i.e. staff and volunteers). Lead continual development of building a volunteer base.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in ministry, youth, child development or related field.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in ministry or education.
- Experience with VBS, AWANA, etc. is preferred.
