Children’s Pastor Job Description

General Description

The Children’s Pastor is responsible for all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of children ages six months through 5th grade. This includes curriculum selection, volunteer recruitment and development, classroom management, and operational management necessary to ensure successful, continuously improving weekend children’s services and mid-week services along with periodic special events.

Essential Job Functions

Lead a team of volunteers in the operation of a children’s ministry, including weekend services, mid-week services and periodic special events. (Summer Kids Camp)

Regularly select and/or develop curriculum for a children’s Christian education program that is part of the church’s weekend service schedule. We currently use the GROW curriculum and are very pleased with its ease of use. We also use KidsSundaySchool.com for mid-week services.

Implement children’s registration, classroom management, and security policies/practices in support of all services and periodic special events.

Direct the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers as needed to staff children’s ministry classrooms and special events.

Cast vision for the program to the church through social media, in-church announcements/promotions, children’s ministry presentations, and relationship building.

Design and plan periodic child dedication services as required, meeting the needs and expectations of families attending the church.

Be instrumental in keeping the children’s ministry areas and grounds up to date.

Assist in the development of an annual budget for children’s ministries and manage spending to budget.

Function as a member of the church’s Pastoral Staff performing baptism services.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be a born-again Christian who lives a life above reproach and have a undeniable calling to Children’s Ministry.

Must be comfortable in a Spirit-filled church setting and be comfortable teaching children about Salvation and the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Must have had at least 2 years of experience working in children’s ministry as a leader.

Must be computer literate and comfortable learning in-house technology that is used in Children’s Ministry.

Must work within the vision of the House and submit to the leadership of the Lead Pastor. Communication is vital!

Must have a good attitude, be proactive, prompt, and have great people skills.
