Youth & Family Director


Position Overview

The Youth and Family Director is responsible for developing, organizing, promoting, and implementing a dynamic, integrated ministry to families and youth (middle school and high school age). This full-time position includes but is not limited to youth programs, special events, small groups, and training sessions. Additionally, the Youth and Family Director will recruit, train, and equip adult leaders to assist in the day to day function of the ministry through relationship building and the discipleship of our youth and their families.


The ideal candidate is someone who is mature, caring, and has experience working with youth in a Christian setting. The candidate will possess a strong and vibrant faith, and will find joy in coming alongside families to provide support, encouragement, and training to parents and leaders, as well as a safe, supportive, and inviting atmosphere for teens.


Essential Job Functions

Ministry to Youth

  • Develop and lead middle and high school programs and events (both on site and off) in accordance with the youth ministry vision and with approval of the pastoral staff.
  • Grow programming to include deeper small group connections.
  • Build and maintain relationships with youth and families, both churched and unchurched.
  • Oversee curriculum/spiritual teaching that is relevant and relatable to youth.
  • Integrate students into the life and community of the church, and encourage and assist them in using their gifts for service.
  • Proactively and creatively seek out opportunities to reach teens and grow ministry impact.


Ministry to Parents/Guardians

  • Partner with parents and caregivers through a variety of means to equip them and keep them connected, informed, and inspired to fulfill their significant role at home (resources, seminars, special events, and informational sessions.)
  • Come alongside parents, equipping them to engage their kids in meaningful conversation about faith and life.
  • Create avenues of consistent contact with parents.


Ministry to Young Adults

  • Recruit and train volunteer leaders
  • Build small groups
  • Plan events
  • Integrate young adults through service opportunities and other church opportunities.


Ministry to Volunteers

  • Recruit and train volunteer leaders to help own and carry out the vision and mission.
  • Maintain healthy relationships with volunteers in which volunteers feel prepared and valued.
  • Help build a core team of volunteers that are able to meet objectives even if you are not on site.
  • Evaluate and uphold volunteer policies, training, and procedures.

  • Possess a love for and have experience connecting with the unchurched
  • Able to effectively articulate messages and communicate with a variety of people and audience sizes
  • Knowledge of and experience with teaching and leading teens 
  • General knowledge of child and faith development
  • Demonstrated communication, executive organization, time management, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Social media ability


Education & Experience

  • Strong, personal faith with a high level of confidence in sharing that faith.
  • 3+ years youth experience required
  • Proven track record of developing and carrying out objectives to completion.
  • Experience managing staff and/or volunteer teams
  • Great grasp of the Bible and theological issues, whether formally or informally trained.
