Fairway Christian Reformed Church in Jenison, Michigan is in search of their next Director of Worship Arts. They are looking for a highly skilled musician to lead worship and help the congregation effectively live out the church’s mission and vision. This individual must have a strong biblical knowledge combined with a Reformed theological perspective.
What you’ll be doing:
- Regularly lead worship services.
- Work closely with preaching pastors, Fairway’s Worship Team, and volunteers to plan and coordinate worship services focused on drawing people closer to Christ and building community with each other.
- Manage the coordination of worship volunteers (i.e. instrumental, vocal, sound, audiovisual, etc.).
- Trim and add weekend messages to the website.
- Be able to honor the traditional hymns always looking to new music released to bring afresh vision of worship into our services.
- Work with current volunteers to maintain standardized service look and sound for in-house and live-streamed viewing.
Skills you need to have:
- Passion for creativity, innovation, and diversity while acknowledging individual differences.
- Formal music education and training.
- Vocal and instrumental musical excellence – able to lead with at least one instrument.
- Organization and time management.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with worship technology included but not limited to slide projection and audio-visual equipment.
Jenison is a suburb of Grand Rapids located 30 miles from Lake Michigan, on the border of Ottawa and Kent County. Jenison is a welcoming, family-friendly community with good schools and an abundance of natural beauty. Situated near Lake Michigan, this artistic community is also just a short drive to major sports teams. Grand Rapids has its own Broadway with many notable musicals that come to town.
