About the Senior Pastor Role:
We are seeking a Senior Pastor who will walk with us exemplifying a life defined by godliness in the church and everywhere else. This person would desire to be part of us, to become one of us, and meet us where we are, growing with us as we move into God’s future for Big Canoe Chapel.
Key Responsibilities and Characteristics: Keeping in mind scriptural guidelines found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9, these are the characteristics we are searching for.
· Commits to daily prayer and Bible study to grow on a personal level while seeking God’s will as the servant and visionary leader for his family and the Chapel.
· Provides spiritual and inspirational leadership through Bible-based preaching that engages our multi-denominational congregation.
· Brings a transformational spirit to our worship, recognizing our diverse denominational traditions with planned opportunities for faith expressions.
· Possesses a heart for missions and a willingness to lead people in mission work.
· Develops a vision of growth for our church that will help us cultivate new followers of Christ, nurture others, and bring unity.
· Guides our congregation, our Chapel leadership, and our Chapel staff as the spiritual leader.
· Demonstrates a love for Big Canoe Chapel, her people, and the surrounding community evidenced by intentional personal and family assimilation.
· Provides leadership, mentorship, and management to the Chapel staff as the Chief Administrator.
· Serves the Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, Personnel Committee, and other Chapel leadership as counselor and guide while exhibiting a cooperative spirit.
· Represents the Chapel in the Big Canoe community, exemplifying a life of walking closely with Jesus, exercising moral discipline and ethical decision-making.
· Exhibits high emotional intelligence: being approachable, empathetic, available, and an active listener.
Education & Experience:
· Undergraduate degree, not necessarily in a related field.
· Master’s degree from an accredited seminary, doctorate preferred.
· Ten years of proven pastoral leadership as a Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor, or Worship Pastor.
· Experience and knowledge of online ministry.
· Experience and knowledge of multi-denominational organizations is beneficial.

The gated community of Big Canoe is located one hour north of Atlanta, GA, in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. Behind those gates lie 8,000 acres of natural beauty that feel like you are living in a national park. First class amenities serve approximately 2,800 homes. Big Canoe provides golf, tennis, three lakes, a rockslide, a beach club, pools, a fitness center, and a spa. More than 20 miles of hiking trails lead to beautiful waterfalls. The well-appointed Clubhouse serves lunch and dinner as you enjoy the view over Lake Sconti. While 73% of the residents are full time residents, 27% are part-time owners who come here to enjoy the natural beauty and amenities. The age range of the residents shows 28% are 59 or less, 37% in their 60’s, and 35% over 70. Roughly 55% of the residents are retired, and about 45% are working, with many of them are working from home. This is a very active community with more than 50 clubs and organizations.

At the heart of it all is the Big Canoe Chapel. The Chapel is a multi-denominational church with more than 600 members. Our members are highly educated and from different denominational backgrounds. We love the Lord and value making a difference in our community. We actively provide mission, benevolence, and scholarship dollars to the surrounding area. We have two worship services on Sunday morning, one of which is streamed. There are four adult Sunday school classes plus a youth and children’s program. We have active Women’s and Men’s Fellowships plus 21 members who serve as Stephen Ministers.
