Director of NextGen Ministries

Job Overview

Thrive Church of God in Broken Arrow, OK, is looking for a NextGen Director to help kids connect with God, learn how to listen to Him, and then respond. This position will oversee ages birth - 12th grade. While the position includes youth programming, its emphasis is on elementary school children. It is a part-time+ (20-30 hours per week) salaried position that reports to the Lead Pastor and has the potential for growth as the ministry area grows.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Children’s Ministry, a passion for kids and families, and a desire to grow continually as a leader and in their relationship with Christ. Thrive Church is a mobile church that meets at Tulsa Ballet’s Broken Arrow campus. The church also maintains offices at 81st Aspen in Broken Arrow.

Job Description

Manage all aspects of Thrive’s Sunday morning children’s programming (birth - 5th grade).

• select and implement curriculum

• recruit, train, and manage volunteers

• oversee weekly setup teardown of children’s ministry area

• develop relationships with kids and parents

• maintain equipment and supplies

• hire contract workers to assist with children’s ministry

Launch a Student Ministry for Middle and High School students.

Relaunch children’s midweek programming.

• develop programming for Little Seeds (birth - 4yo) weekly story hour

• recruit and train volunteers

• maintain equipment and supplies

• work with volunteers to create relationships with the parents of the kids

• create discipleship opportunities for elementary-aged kids

Expectations

• Participation in the life of the church (small groups, special events)

• Weekly one-on-one and staff meetings

• Other duties at Lead Pastor’s discretion based on candidate’s strengths and church needs

• A “batteries included” self-starter who sees their role as part of the team

Requirements and Skills

• A Christian disciple learning to listen and respond to God

• Minimum of 1 year working with kids

• Some ministry training preferred but not required

• Ability to maintain a reputable community presence and influence

• The ability to communicate with kids and families

• Must be fluid, flexible, and willing to accept/adapt to change

• Committed to the vision and direction of the church

• Preference given to those who have been part of a growing children’s ministry

• Compensation dependent on experience and education
