Agape Church on the Atlantic Coast in St. Mary’s, Georgia, is prayerfully seeking our next Kids Ministry Director, whom God has chosen to lead our children's Ministry.
Agape is a 40 year old growing, Spirit-Led, Christian Charismatic, non-denominational Church. We minister to families all across Southeast Georgia, Northeast Florida including many military families from Kings Bay Naval Base.
Job Description:
Direct Report: Lead Pastor
Position Status: Full Time (~40 hours)
Mission of Agape Church: Make Disciples who are Rooted in the Word, Empowered by the Spirit, and Equipped for Ministry
Role Responsibilities:
Uphold the Mission and Standards of Agape Church as a ministry
Attend weekly staff / leadership meetings
Oversee Agape Kids Department
- Recruit, Train, Manage and Disciple Agape Kids Team
- Identify and Develop Team Leads for Agape Kids
- Shepherd the Agape Kids volunteers and students to follow Jesus and become biblically literate
- Work with Pastoral staff to follow-up with parents to provide pastoral care and discipleship
- Lead with a multiplication mindset
- Grow/develop the team spiritually, numerically, and practically
- Manage the Agape Kids budget
- Oversee Agape Kids policies and procedures
- Partner with Safety teams at the campus to assure safety of Agape Kids
Develop and Maintain Agape Kids Curriculum
- Work with Lead Pastor to select or produce appropriate Curriculum for Sunday Kid’s ministry
- Communicate Curriculum to Volunteers a minimum of 2 weeks in advance to ensure appropriate preparation
- Publish weekly service flow for each classroom
- Provide Family Devotional materials in alignment with curriculum with lessons
Schedule volunteers in Breeze
- Ensure the schedule on Breeze schedule stays minimum 4 weeks ahead
- Set expectations of call times, preparedness, excellence, etc...
Onboard volunteers
- Ensure the process is simple, efficient and effective.
- Ensure each volunteer has a current background check.
- Ensure each volunteer receives adequate training
Organize team nights
- Build + expand culture and community within the Agape Kids department
- Minimum 3 per year
Establish culture of worship at Agape Church
- Encourage team members to attend church when not scheduled.
- Encourage team to be engaged and connected outside of their classroom ministry
- Encourage team members to be professional in dress and appearance
- Work with Lead Pastor / church leadership on special events.
Monthly 1 on 1 with team leaders
- Provide Spiritual and Practical Accountability
- Receive Feedback
- Provide Feedback and Guidance
Establish culture of parental involvement
- Maintain consistent communication with parents and guardians
- Involve parents and guardians in the discipleship process
- Encourage feedback from parents and guardians
- Assist Lead Pastor in equipping parents for Family Discipleship
Oversee the operational aspects that lead up to and include Sundays
- Ensure the environments are clean, organized and excellent
Develop and implement Agape Kids outreach strategy
- Find creative solutions to engage the children in the community around the church campus and bring them into a relationship with Jesus and His church
Oversee Special Event Childcare at Direction of Pastoral Staff
- Ensure Childcare scheduled for All weekly meetings where childcare is provided
- Ensure Childcare scheduled for additional events as needed
Provide overall strategic leadership to the Agape Kids Ministry
Oversee annual Kids camp / VBS
Assist Pastoral Staff with special projects upon request
Other duties as assigned
Sunday Responsibilities
Serve as Agape Kids Director
- Oversee the preparation of each room
- Cleanliness, safety, organization, etc...
- Lead and oversee Agape Kids Volunteers
- Serve as direct report for Team Leads
Develop Team Members
- Look for opportunities to develop team members into leaders
- Develop other capable teachers / leaders
Oversee Staffing
- Ensure all classrooms have adequate volunteer staffing
- Ensure all necessary positions are covered
- Maintain volunteer schedule a minimum of 4 weeks in advance
Qualifications
- Experience Developing Children’s Ministry Curriculum
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Children’s/Family Ministry or related field
- 2+ years experience in Full-Time Children’s Ministry
- Evidence of a clear calling to Children’s Ministry
- Experience in problem solving
- Supervise multiple projects effectively
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
- A love and calling toward ministry to children and families
- Sound knowledge of the Bible
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills with a particular emphasis on follow-through and attention to detail
- Ability to think and act independently with a high degree of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, probe for understanding, and work in collaboration with others to achieve desired results.
- Must be a strong communicator with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Knowledgeable and functional in technical writing, including consistent and correct use of tense, grammar/spelling and terminology that is interesting and varied
- Strong proof-reading skills to produce error-free documents
- General knowledge or ability to learn Breeze CHMS
- General technology knowledge and ability to troubleshoot
