Worship Leader

We are currently seeking to hire a Worship Leader who loves to have an eternal impact on people through musical worship.

The primary responsibilities of the part-time worship leader will be to lead a thoroughly blended (mix of hymns and contemporary songs) worship service, and grow the music ministry at Faith. This person is directly accountable to the Lead Pastor. The candidate will possess an adaptable skill set and leadership capabilities, which will enable a worship ministry to grow with us.

This position currently is a part time, salaried position (Max of 15 hours per week). Salary and benefits will be discussed upon interview and will be commensurate with experience.

Faith Baptist Church is a growing Southern Baptist Church in Central Florida. The church is situated between the cities of Lakeland and Polk City. We are located in a semi rural setting which is rapidly growing with business and residents. The church was founded in 1994 and hired a new Lead Pastor in 2020. Faith Baptist Church has great growth potential and presents a fantastic opportunity to work under younger leadership and progress our church for the Kingdom of God.

This person is directly accountable to the Lead Pastor. The candidate will possess an adaptable skill set and leadership capabilities, which will enable a worship ministry to grow with us.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Be a born again believer in Jesus Christ. Continue to grow and mature in Christ as a godly person of integrity. Strong sense of calling and identity in Christ. Demonstrated leadership in being able to disciple those in his/her sphere of influence.

2. Provide leadership, vision, and passion for FBC in the area of music worship ministries that is in line with the overall vision, purpose and mission of our church. Lead in creating and implementing new worship opportunities, which align with the mission and vision at Faith.

3. Coordinate with the Lead Pastor to create and lead one well-planned and engaging Sunday morning worship service and one Wednesday Evening service. This includes leading the Sunday and Wednesday Worship service and recruiting and developing a worship team, and scheduling vocalists. Responsibilities include preparation for and leading rehearsals, as well as consulting with the Lead Pastor to coordinate the music for the Sunday services. Rehearsals on Sunday before the worship service and one during the midweek are preferred.

4. Proficiency in leading worship with a strong vocal ability. Capability of leading and with a guitar and/or keyboard is a plus, but not a requirement. Ability to lead with piano or acoustic accompaniment is necessary.

5. Develop and administer an annual budget for the worship ministry in accordance with the financial policies of the church.

6. Attend all necessary meetings with the Lead Pastor, and participate in the planning and implementation of church programs that will fulfill the mission and vision of the church.

7. Assist in planning, implementing and leading worship for special events outside of Sunday and Wednesday worship services.

8. When available, perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

9. Either currently is a member of, or willing and qualified to join the membership of Faith Baptist Church upon hiring in full agreement of our statement of faith (Baptist Faith and Message 1963).

10. It is anticipated that the duties associated with this position will take no more than 15 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in musical ministry with some experience in leading worship is preferred but not required. Must believe in Baptist doctrine and be willing to refer and teach from the King James Version of the Bible.

2. Demonstrate gifts and calling to music ministry, and have a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.

3. A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills with church members, worship team members and staff.

4. Must possess strong communication skills. This position requires excellent leadership, administrative, and organizational skills.

5. Must have the ability to research the community, utilizing demographics, technology and social media to meet the needs and style of musical worship for our church and community.

6. Able to work as a team player, cooperating with the staff and members of Faith Baptist Church.

7. Should be able to act with minimal supervision and provide guidance to church leadership in all areas concerning music ministry.

8. Exhibit proven ability to teach and train others to further their service to Christ through music.

9. Exemplify obedience to the Word of God and devotion to a deep-rooted prayer life.

10. Must have a clear testimony to a saving, sanctifying and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

11. Model a Christ-like lifestyle and a passion to reach the lost for Jesus Christ.

12. A working Knowledge of Pro Presenter 7 and the ability to digitally upload musical lyrics is preferred, but the candidate will be trained on this if necessary.
