Job Title: Worship Pastor Department: Ministerial Staff
Full Time Position
Supervisors: Senior Pastor
The purpose of the Worship Pastor is to lead the church to worship through music and other creative arts.
Requirements:
- Character (found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and 1 Peter 5:1-4)
- Mature/maturing believer
- Faithful to one wife, a good household manager and father of obedient children (if applicable)
- Above reproach, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money
Skills:
- Ability to minister to (serve) people by building meaningful relationships inside and outside of the church, caring for people, discipling people, helping people realize their full potential, and developing other leaders
- Ability to lead others by communicating a shared vision, continually developing and increasing a circle of influence, organizing and managing teams, delegating well, and training volunteers
- Ability to speak clearly and intentionally, articulating the gospel in a biblical, understandable, and appealing manner, and properly interpreting and applying Scripture
- The ability to challenge methods and practices of the church without challenging our Doctrine (BFM 2000) or Mission (the Great Commission)
Specific:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Personal and ministry alignment with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and the WBC Mission and Strategy
- Successful completion of criminal, sexual misconduct, and credit background checks
- Completion of Ministry Safe training (can be completed after hire)
- The ability to lead upward by supporting and respectfully challenging the Senior Pastor
- The ability to recruit, develop, and lead volunteers and leaders for all aspects of Worship Arts
- The ability to supervise and manage staff and/or volunteers
- The ability to learn and implement best practices in Worship Arts
- The ability to work with the Senior Pastor to develop, lead, and evaluate worship gatherings
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Worship Arts
- Meet weekly with the Senior Pastor to evaluate and plan worship gatherings
- Enlist, hire, and supervise all staff and/or volunteers in the Worship Arts:
- Meet regularly with the Worship Arts staff
- Develop and manage the annual budget for Worship Arts in conjunction with the Administrator and Finance Committee
- Provide oversight and pastoral leadership for all areas in the Worship Arts including:
- Age-graded choirs
- Adult choir
- Musicians/Orchestra
- Audio/visual technology
- Purchase, maintain, and upgrade equipment for the Worship Arts in conjunction with the Senior Pastor
- Plan and lead special services as needed (weddings, funerals, etc.)
General Responsibilities
- Serve as part of the Ministerial Staff championing the Worship Arts
- Provide pastoral care as needed
- Perform all other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor
