About Fort Myers Community Church

We believe that “the church” is not a building but a people. God sent Jesus to unite all people through His life, death, and resurrection. These people join together to devote themselves to God’s Word, breaking bread, caring for one another, and prayer. It is our desire that “church” doesn’t just happen on a specific day, at a specific time, or even at a given location but that “church” happens when God’s family gathers together to love Him, love each other, and disciple one another to know and love Him more. With that said, there are some specific questions that may arise when you are getting ready to come join us at one of our gatherings. Here are some frequently asked questions that may help you feel more comfortable joining us…

OUR STORY

WE DESIRE TO SEE LIVES TRANSFORMED BY THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST.

On February 8, 2015, a small group of people met in a home to discuss what it would look like for God to form a church through discipling relationships in the Fort Myers community. As they opened up God's Word together, they were brought to Luke 19:41-44 and asked God to give them the same heart as Jesus... to weep over the lostness of the city that they loved. As they continued to meet, God began to give them opportunities to invite people into their homes and lives, discipling them to the cross of Jesus.

Each of the families in the group longed to see a church form that would seek to glorify God by making disciples who love God, love others, and make disciples. This church family would eventually form to be known as Fort Myers Community Church. In January of 2023, the current 10 acre property and 2 buildings were given (debt-free) to us. The church that owned the property desired to leave a legacy of Gospel-impact to our church family. This blessing has propelled us in fulfilling the vision to see lives, relationships, and our community transformed by the Good News of Jesus.

Discipling relationships through biblical community is at the forefront of the ministry. We grow in our relationship with God as we live in the life of the family that God intends. We accomplish this through community groups, bible studies, age specific ministries, and other Gospel-centered environments.

It is FMCCs commitment to be the type of church that if we ceased to exist, the community would miss us. We continue to seek partnerships in the community so we can be the Gospel by serving and loving those around us. We desire to see people's lives transformed by the Good News of Jesus. We believe Gospel transformation happens most effectively through discipling relationships. Join us as we seek to love God, love others, and make disciples.

WHAT TYPE OF PREACHING/TEACHING CAN BE EXPECTED?

We teach straight out of the Bible through expository preaching. Our communicators do their best to articulate the background, context, and main ideas of each section of Scripture. We also love connecting the passages we are teaching through with the current state of our world and how we can apply these truths to everyday life.

IS THERE MUSIC AND WHAT STYLE DOES IT RESEMBLE?

Yes! We love to sing songs of praise to God. We are very blessed to have a variety of gifted musicians from all different types of musical backgrounds. We sing hymns, traditional praise songs, and contemporary worship music. We normally have a full band that is comprised of guitars, drums, and multiple singers. Some weeks we have a smaller group that is more acoustically driven.
