Position Summary: The Youth Pastor / Youth Director provides Gospel-centered, Word-saturated leadership for all ministries to youth in grades 6-12.

Reports to: The Senior Pastor

What you bring to the Bethel Baptist Church team:

• The qualifications of an elder or deacon, in accordance with 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, 1 Peter 5, etc.
• A clear understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Old and New Testaments, and a demonstrated ability to teach and apply that knowledge to students
• Strong gifting in relational, team-based ministry leadership
• For married candidates, a spouse in full support of your ministry calling, who will serve in the church in the way that suits her own gifts
• Desired education: BA in a ministry-related field (Youth or Student Ministry preferred), or commitment to pursue further education
• Desired experience: 2+ years in paid and/or significant volunteer youth ministry
• Complete agreement with Bethel’s Statement of Faith

Key Responsibilities:

• Cast and implement a vision for youth evangelism and discipleship, in partnership with parents and the Youth Leaders team
• Lead the Youth Ministry for grades 6-12, including Sunday School, Youth Group, discipleship groups, and other organized activities
• Teach the Bible with clarity and passion at weekly youth gatherings, equipping students to walk faithfully with Jesus
• Create an exciting, welcoming program that encourages the forming of Christlike friendships and the building up of the Body of Christ
• Build intentional pastoral relationships with students and families
• Pray faithfully for students and families at Bethel and in our community
• Oversee the administration of the Youth Ministry
• Plan and lead student Missions Trips in the US and abroad, as well as retreats and other projects

Other Expectations:

• Participates in staff prayer, Bible study, and planning meetings, and completes other tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor
• Shows initiative, flexibility and adaptability in relationships and approach to ministry
• Keeps consistent office hours and participates on Sundays unless sick, on vacation, or on assignment for the church
