Student Pastor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Student Pastor shall serve the Lord and North Shelby Baptist Church as a member of the Ministerial Staff. The incumbent shall be responsible to the Church in Conference, the Lead Pastor and the Personnel Committee, and shall be a member of North Shelby Baptist Church.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The general duties and responsibilities of the Student Pastor are as follows:

1. Reach, teach, and disciple youth in grades 6-12 through personal example and counsel, as well asthrough programs and events.

2.Support Sunday School and discipleship training and ministry training.

3. Direct and teach youth on Wednesday evenings and/or other times, with counsel from the Minister of Education and Student Ministry Committee.

4. Determine and oversee appropriate youth events, retreats, outreach projects, or recreational events.

5.Determine, plan, and direct appropriate youth ministry/mission projects, whether local, in the state, national, or international.

6. Serve as a member of the Ministerial staff, sharing the ministry of visitation, outreach, preaching, worship leadership, etc.—according to the Minister’s gifts and interests and as the Church needs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Student Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor.

COMPENSATION:

The Student Pastor will be a full-time salaried employee of the Church unless otherwise agreed upon. Compensation will be as established by the Church Personnel Committee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The Student Pastor will have basic knowledge, experience, and skill to lead the student ministry of the Church effectively and efficiently. It is anticipated that the incumbent will have a Bible college education and/or seminary training. The Student Pastor will be proficient in implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the ministry, providing periodic reports to the Minister of Education and Families regarding progress in the performance of these responsibilities. Must affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
