Job Description

The Student Pastor will have a heart for working with young people and a desire to share the love of Christ with them. The Student Pastor will be responsible for leading our student ministry, which includes teaching, discipleship, outreach, and fellowship activities. The Student Pastor is a spiritual leader and must be an example of faith in action whose personal life, family relationships, and public life should be above reproach. This position is team-focused, collaborating closely with staff and volunteers. The Student Pastor should fully support the vision and efforts of the church leadership and incorporate it into their responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities

·        Lead and oversee all aspects of student ministry, including worship services, Bible studies, small groups, and special events. 

·        Develop a Student Leadership Team, including both staff and volunteers

·        Recruit, train, and support volunteers to help with student ministry programs.

·        Plan and organize events and activities for students, such as retreats, camps, and community outreach projects.

·        Teach and preach the Word of God in a way that is engaging and relevant to young people.

·        Build relationships with parents and families to create a supportive and cohesive community.

·        Effectively communicate with students, parents, and church leaders about student ministry events and Personal/Spiritual lives. 

·        Connect with students outside of church settings, attend school events, and build bridges with student community.

·        Coordinate with parents of students regarding their child(ren)’s involvement and participation in student ministries.

·        Create a fun and welcoming environment that encourages students to grow in their relationship with Christ and with one another.

·        Assist the Senior Pastor in making the Student Ministry a vital function of the overall church.

·        Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.


Qualifications

·        A professing Christian called by God to teach/preach the gospel (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9), who upholds the beliefs of Boones Chapel Baptist Church as set forth in the Baptist Faith and Message (2000)*, adheres to the by-laws adopted by the church, and supports the church through their tithe.

·        If married, wife is a Godly woman who fully supports and is an active part of her husband’s ministry. (Philippians 2:2, Ephesians 5:22)

·        Faithfully committed to prayer and the ministry of the Word of God (Acts 6:1-7)

·        1-2 years of ministry experience with students 6-12 grade (volunteer or staff) and/or a degree in a relevant field is preferred.

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Ability to collaborate with other staff members and volunteers.

·        Effective organizational planning and timely follow-through

·        Trustworthy and holds in confidence personal and private matters.

·        Great computer and creativity skills.

 

Education

·        A strong understanding of the Scriptures.

·        An undergraduate degree in a related field (divinity, theology, Christian education, etc.) is preferred.

Staff Structure

The Student Pastor will:

·        Be supervised by the staff member appointed by the Personnel Committee.

·        Work with all staff, especially Children’s Ministry Coordinator, as a cooperative team member.

·        Be responsible for helping and managing all paid employees, interns, and volunteers supporting student ministries.


Hours Per Week

A regularly scheduled work week extends Sunday and Wednesday during regularly scheduled education and worship times; Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Fridays as assigned. Additional time may be required to appropriately perform the duties related to this ministry position (i.e., spiritual needs, emergency needs, meetings, revivals, conferences, etc.).

 

Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Benefits are granted as outlined in the church’s Personnel Manual.
