About the Position

Leads and serves 6th through 12th grade students, with a focus on 9th-12th grade students providing opportunities for students to grow a strong healthy relationship with Jesus Christ.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees the spiritual growth of students, including assisting students in identifying a path and plan to develop a personal Christ-centered life.
• Prepares and teaches Biblical concepts to students on a regular basis at Wednesday night Refuge gatherings, Sunday morning Sunday School and at other events and activities as determined.
• Leads the student leadership team known as the Dream Team.
• Participates in the Student Ministry Parent Council by attending and participating in meetings.
• Includes parents in their children’s spiritual formation process and helps to equip parents as spiritual mentors to their children.
• Creates an environment of connection and growth where students discover how to live out worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and outreach in a community life group setting.
• Assists in planning and implementation of Student Ministry trips, retreats, mission projects and Fun Nights.
• Recruits and trains adult volunteers to minister to students.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned by the Director of Student Ministries or the Director of Family Ministries.
• Attends staff meetings, prayer sessions and retreats, both departmental and all staff.
• Ensures the safety and security of all students through screening and facilitating child safety training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must exhibit a mature faith, maintaining a vital growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ through Bible study, prayer, Christian fellowship, service, and church attendance.
• Must have a passion for students and experience working with High School students.
• Lives in full agreement with the Apostle’s Creed and discerns a sense of call to uphold the vision and mission of Christ Church.
• Able to lead and spiritually mentor a team of adult volunteers.
• Able to handle confidential information with tact and discretion. Has a clear understanding of accountability and trust in working relationships.

Because the Director of Student Ministries and the Director of Middle School Ministries are both males, we are seeking female applicants only in order to meet the relational and spiritual needs of our female students and also because we feel it is important to have both men and women serving together in ministry.
