Discovery Christian Church is a mission-driven community located in Davis, CA, helping people discover the good news of Jesus.
The role of Executive Pastor will be a crucial member of our church leadership team, responsible for coordinating the staff to ensure the effective execution of the church's mission and vision as set forth by the elders. This role requires a strategic leader with excellent organizational and communication skills, committed to serving the church community in a part-time, unpaid capacity.
Position: Executive Pastor

- Flexibility in scheduling is essential to accommodate church activities and events.
- Reports to: Lead Pastor, Elder Team
Responsibilities:
- Staff Coordination and Development (30%):
- Lead, manage, and provide guidance to the church staff, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission and vision.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to promote teamwork, set priorities, and review progress on key initiatives.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging professional and spiritual growth among staff members.
- Strategic Planning and Execution (30%):
- Work closely with the Senior Pastor and elders to develop and implement strategic plans that advance the church’s mission and vision.
- Translate the strategic goals into actionable plans for the staff, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of various ministries and initiatives, making adjustments as necessary to stay on track with strategic objectives.
- Operational Oversight (20%):
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the church, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of all departments.
- Manage administrative tasks, including budgeting, resource allocation, and scheduling, to support the church’s activities and programs.
- Ensure compliance with church policies and procedures, maintaining a high standard of integrity and accountability.
- Spiritual Leadership (20%):
- Support the spiritual health and development of the staff, providing pastoral care and guidance as needed.
- Participate in worship services, prayer meetings, and other church activities to stay connected with the congregation.
- Model a Christ-centered life, demonstrating a deep commitment to personal faith and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in a management or supervisory role.
- 3+ years experience in a church leadership role, with a track record of effective team coordination and project management.
- Experience in coaching and/or mentoring individuals, with a track record of positive growth.
- A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, with a commitment to the church’s mission and vision.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people, fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation.
- A heart for service and a willingness to volunteer time and talents for the betterment of the church community.
- Alignment with Discovery’s values/mission.
- Clear background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an environment requiring frequent strategic evaluations, reprioritization, and creative problem-solving (such as a start-up or similar setting)
- Knowledge of work management or project management systems, such as EOS
