Job Description

Overview:

EBF interns will actively participate in EBF’s mission as a Christ-centered community, making disciples and loving people. They’ll serve alongside pastors and leaders, gaining hands-on experience in discipleship, leadership, and teaching. Additionally, they’ll receive mentorship from EBF pastors and engage with enriching books to grow as children of God and leaders in the Church.

This internship is flexible to accommodate different needs. Some may commit to 20 hours a week for 2 years, while others might work full-time jobs and intern for 10 hours a week. Our aim is to bring on 3-4 interns for 1-2 years at 10-20 hours a week. This internship is not paid, but it comes with free housing with up to 3 other men who love Jesus and are serving as interns.

Goal for the Interns:

This internship is designed to be a place of training and mentorship for those sensing a call to vocational ministry.

Goal for EBF:

These interns will bless EBF with more people dedicated to its mission of making disciples and loving people.

Minimum Qualifications:

· 18+ year-old unmarried man.

· Must be a born-again Christian and living the Christian lifestyle.

· Must have some knowledge of scripture and can clearly articulate the gospel message.

· Must be faithful, available, teachable, and responsible.

· Must agree with EBF’s doctrinal statement.

· Must be approved by the board of elders at EBF.

· Must pass a background check.

· Must have the financial means of getting to and from Olympia, Washington, for the internship.

· Must be able to work a part-time job while interning (this internship is unpaid, but housing is provided).

Primary Responsibilities:

· Attend EBF’s worship service every Sunday morning.

· Attend a weekly meeting with their pastoral mentor.

· Attend all events/activities/scheduled meetings that fit inside the intern’s area of ministry (unless an absence has been previously agreed upon).

· Spending time with people in their area of ministry building relationships and making disciples of Christ out of them.

· Helping their pastoral mentor coordinate and lead weekly events (i.e. youth group, college group, men’s Bible study, etc.)

· Communicating with volunteer leaders.

· Spending time preparing to lead lessons, games, staff meetings, etc.

· Helping their pastoral mentor with other jobs and tasks that the ministry needs help with.

· Availability to help in other areas of EBF (i.e. Vacation Bible School [VBS], service projects, mission trips, all-church prayer meetings.)

Internship Features / Plan of Action:

The interns will get experience, equipment, and education in all sorts of areas. Some of these areas include:

· Teaching/Preaching

· Leading Groups (discussion, facilitation, conversations, etc.)

· Discipleship Evangelism

· Counseling

· Staff Development (volunteer leader meetings)

· Finances/Budgeting/Fundraising

· Retreat/Trip Planning/Leading

· Personal Spiritual Disciplines

Compensation:

This internship is unpaid but comes with housing. The interns are going to live in one of the houses on EBF’s property. The house has three bedrooms and one bathroom. It has a full kitchen, living room, laundry room, and a one-car garage (plenty of parking outside).

Transportation

Interns will not be provided with a car, nor the means of getting to Olympia if the intern is coming from another state.

Emmanuel Bible Fellowship, located in Olympia, Washington, has roots in the Conservative Baptist tradition, though we left that denomination over a decade ago. Our church is led by three pastors and four lay elders, and we are blessed with over 200 dedicated followers of Jesus. EBF offers a variety of vibrant ministries, including Children’s, Youth, College, Young Marrieds, Men/Women’s, and Senior ministries.
