Job Title: Director of NextGen Ministries
Location: Grandview Baptist Church Davenport, Iowa

Reports To: Lead Pastor
Job Summary
The Director of NextGen Ministries is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the programs and activities for children from nursery through 12th grade. The role aims to foster spiritual growth, biblical knowledge, and a sense of community among children, youth, and their families in accordance with Grandview’s core beliefs and practices.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Management
- Design and implement age-appropriate programs that fit in our church ministry and model. Such as but not limited to: Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, mid-week services, and special events.
- Develop curricula that align with Grandview’s doctrine and promote biblical understanding and discipleship.
- Organize and oversee activities such as but not limited to: mission trips, retreats, and service projects.
Leadership and Supervision
- Recruit, train, encourage, supervise, and disciple servant leaders and teachers for various age groups.
- Ensure all programs are adequately staffed and that servant leaders are equipped with the necessary resources.
Pastoral Care
- Build relationships with children, youth, and their families to provide spiritual guidance and support.
- Offer counseling and mentorship to students and parents as needed.
- Collaborate with Grandview’s staff to integrate children and youth into the broader church community.
Administration and Communication
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, program participation, and budget expenditures.
- Communicate regularly with parents, servant leaders, and church leadership regarding upcoming events, program changes, and policies as needed.
- Utilize various platforms (e.g., church website, social media, newsletters,) to promote programs and events.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all activities comply with church policies and safety protocols.
- Implement and maintain a child protection policy, including background checks for volunteers.
- Address any concerns or incidents promptly and appropriately.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working with children and youth in a church or similar setting.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and church members.
- Passionate about the spiritual development of children, youth, and their families.
- Experience with church databases.

Performance Expectations
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required by church activities.
