Worship Leader

Position Description/Purpose:

In collaboration with the Worship Director, the Worship Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all music activities of the Contemporary Worship Service for Lebanon Community Methodist Church. These activities include worship planning, coaching, and scheduling of team staff and volunteers. The Worship Leader also works to ensure that music is spiritually led and that our music glorifies God as we strive to lead the congregation in passionate worship.

Position duties and responsibilities:

• This position reports directly to the Worship Director.

• Direct the LCMC Worship Team which participates in the 11:00am contemporary worship service, and 10:30am One-Service Sundays, as well as special services during the Easter Advent/Christmas seasons.

• Ability to sing and play to play guitar or piano/keyboard

• Conduct weekly rehearsals; select music which corresponds with service themes, worship songs, hymns and special music.

• Create/obtain song arrangements (lead sheets, chord charts, piano sheet music) for the Worship Team, and maintain the current contemporary worship music library and select new music. Keep informed of current music styles and selections.

• Use ProPresenter presentations, to coordinate the music participation calendar/schedule.

• Work with the Tech Team to coordinate requirements for worship services, special events, and scheduling.

• Ability to run soundboard for rehearsals. Participate in training for the running of all sound media equipment/accessories, to serve as back-up if/when needed.

• Create ProPresentert presentations used for congregational singing in weekly worship services.

• Plan team music for concerts and special seasonal services as needed.

• Work with the Worship Director to provide information for announcements regarding worship team special events, budgetary needs, upgrade and maintenance of equipment, accessories and instruments.

• Provide opportunities for times of sharing and prayer at all rehearsals.

• Assist with weddings, funerals, and other special events as requested.

• Responsible for recruiting, assigning and training other musicians to compose a Worship Team.

• Work with the Worship Director to ensure all staff and volunteers are cleared through Ministry Safe.

• Support the Youth Worship Team, when needed/requested.

Qualifications:

• Personal relationship with Jesus Christ

• Committed to LCMC’s mission, vision, and values

• Person of integrity and Christian character

• Proficient at sight reading sheet music and/or chord charts

• Ability to train and direct small vocal groups

• Ability to play contemporary worship instrument and strong vocal ability desired

• Familiar with several styles and arrangements of contemporary songs and hymns.

• Effective planning and organizational skills

• Strong ability to lead congregational worship in song

• Team player

Education Experience:

• BA in worship ministry major or experience in leading worship with a team

• Ability to sign and play the guitar or piano, or both

• Basic computer skills for email communication and utilizing worship planning software
