With guidance from the Holy Spirit, our church is seeking a Senior Pastor who will step up and lead our multi-generational congregation. He will be dedicated to growing the community of Christ through actionable fulfillment of the Great Commission as outlined in Matthew 28:16-20. We believe God's man (the candidate) will be unshakeable in the calling God has for him. He will possess relevant education and experience working in ministry, and have a genuine heart for local and global missions. He will hold firmly to God's Word as a Biblical overseer who can mentor and lead our church staff, can be a mentor to others in the church "as he goes," and is open to being mentored himself. The candidate must display great spiritual leadership qualities and be diligent in fulfilling the mission of Redemption Shoals. God's man will be encouraged as he inspires a renewed vision, fosters unity among our community of believers, and displays Godly character and humility.
The ideal candidate will possess the biblical requirements outlined in Titus 1:5-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.

FORMAL PASTOR PROFILE
The Senior Pastor Search Team of Redemption Shoals, a Southern Baptist Church, has prayerfully sought input from God's Word, the Holy Spirit, and our church family to help us understand the kind of man we are seeking to be our next Senior Pastor. We offer our praise to the Almighty God for both unity and clarity to that end.
We are searching for a man who is spiritually mature, morally upright, doctrinally sound, capable of teaching and leading, and who serves with the right motives and attitude. Further, one who is committed to the inerrancy and authority of the Bible. He will agree with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000, and will lead our church on the strong foundations of biblical authority. Our desire is a man who is being transformed by God's Word himself as he leads our congregation to be transformed as well. He will be relational in his delivery and firm in his conviction.
Our next pastor will be easily approachable, humble, and skilled in building relationships. He will lead our staff and church with a team-based approach, yet will steward well the authority of the office of Senior Pastor for all matters of final say. He will listen and value input but not cater to any one person (or groups) desire to the neglect of others. He will provide vision and make biblical decisions concerning the direction of the church, exemplify transparency, and communicate with grace and gentleness as he leads change.
We desire a Senior Pastor who models faithful leadership in the home and allows that to overflow into his leadership at Redemption Shoals. In the big picture of life he will put God first, his family second, and the church third.
Our church is mostly interested in the man who is compelled by God to serve as Senior Pastor at Redemption Shoals, has a great desire to pastor and shepherd, and is devoted to both winning the lost to Jesus and growing disciples among the membership.
FORMAL CHURCH PROFILE
Throughout Redemption Shoals' (RS) 80-year history, God has blessed this body of believers. We very recently (2024) changed our name from Highland Park Baptist Church to Redemption Shoals. Like many churches, we have faced challenges in our past. But with God's guidance and the faithfulness of our leadership, we worked through those times and God has blessed us. Our membership is strong and consists of some very spiritually mature Jesus followers.
Throughout the years, RS has enjoyed many seasons of spiritual and numerical growth. Our current membership (NOV 2024) is 2,269. We currently average 994 in worship each Sunday and 665 in community groups. Our membership is made up of approximately 15% over the age of 65, 46% between ages 26 and 65, and 39% below the age of 26. Over the past four years, since the covid pandemic, our attendance and membership have grown at a steady rate. Our baptisms have increased with each passing year and we have joyfully observed 82 baptisms as of November 2024.
Financially, as of November 2024 our total receipts were $2,625,039 with undesignated receipts totaling $2,290,692. Our people are faithful in meeting our budget and mission needs.
Our current staff consists of five associate pastors and multiple support staff. Our staff, volunteer leaders and servants, have excelled with the additional responsibilities in the absence of a Senior Pastor. Shortly after the resignation of our former Senior Pastor, RS successfully launched a full-time, licensed childcare facility on our campus. The opening proceeded seamlessly, alongside several other significant church and community outreach events. The team at RS is an exceptional group who collaborate effectively in fulfilling God's work through ministry. We believe they will work well with the man God calls to lead RS as our new Senior Pastor.
At Redemption Shoals, our mission is "to mobilize all people to live as Jesus followers." Our five core values are God Dependence (John 15:5), Kingdom Advancement (Acts 1:8, Matt 28:18-20), Authentic Community (1 Peter 4:8-11), Life Transformation (2 Cor 3:18, Gal 2:20) and Gospel Unity (Eph 4:2-6)
Overall, Redemption Shoals is an exciting and welcoming church family. We are serious about reaching our community and beyond for Christ. We value expository preaching and community ministry. We are excited about what God will do through the leadership of our next Senior Pastor.
