Introduction:

Barry Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is seeking both a Senior Pastor (Senior Minister) and Associate Pastor who will work together, along with the congregation, to help us reach greater goals and growth in God's righteousness. Our church has an engaged congregation with several active committees working towards each of our goals. Members of our church are eager to learn more Biblical truths and we pray our next pastor(s) will always impart knowledge and guidance from a Biblical standpoint.

Job Description:

• Full-Time Senior Pastor

• Compensation Package - $70-80K

• 14 Vacation Days, including 2 Sundays

• Continuing Education and Sabbatical Allotments

Senior Pastor General Responsibilities:

• Prepare/Lead Sunday Morning Services with Prayers and Sermons

• Present Bible Based Teachings (in Bible Study classes, in the Pulpit, etc.)

• Provide Pastoral Care (hospital/homebound visits and calls, and other emotional, social and spiritual support)

• Provide Guidance for Youth and Children Programs

• Facilitate Staff by Providing Prayerful Guidance

Senior Pastor Qualifications:

• Seminary Graduate

• Ordained

• Experience Preaching God's Word

• Youth Development Experience

• Experience Providing Pastoral Care

• Experience Providing Counseling Family Guidance

• Ability to Facilitate Staff

Barry Christian Church was established in 1840 and has been an active congregation ever since.

Two very important core values of our congregation are Compassion and Tradition.

Our compassion is most evident in our welcoming attitude toward strangers and in our outreach services, in which we seek to alleviate pain and suffering, locally and elsewhere.

Our love for tradition shows in the way we worship the Lord and in our commitment to Scripture as our guide. We do recognize the need to remain open to change and opportunity for growth as local and world conditions necessitate, so long as we do not depart from the Word of God.

We seek a minister who will help us reach greater goals and growth in God's righteousness. Some examples are:

*Training us to be effective in sharing the Gospel,

*Teaching us to disciple new believers from all backgrounds,

*Instruction on ministering to the spiritual needs of our congregation,

all to help us achieve the spirit of wisdom and understanding needed to fulfill God's will and do His work.

We want to continue including and ministering to all people, no matter who they are. Our communion table is open to people with diverse backgrounds, individual needs, differing family models, education and income levels, language barriers, and life experiences.

Our congregation’s history is stable, with only having 3 Senior Pastors over the last ~75 years (all having retired with us). We hope to continue this trend with our next pastor(s) ready to become part of our church family for many years to come.

Barry Christian Church is located right on the line between Platte and Clay Counties, which are the two fastest growing counties in the state of Missouri. We are blessed to have our building paid off which allows us to focus on using our resources for further outreach. Being set right off a major road near several shopping and restaurant areas, we are eager to leverage our location to reach more people in the community with God’s Word.
