Summary of Position:
The youth pastor of NorthWinds Church, under the direction of the lead pastor, will coordinate and oversee all ministry activities related to NorthWinds Church for those in 6th-12th grade. In addition, he will have responsibilities which best align with his giftings in an additional ministry space (i.e. Children or Young Adults). This will be done in alignment with the mission of NorthWinds—“Loving and leading people to experience abundant life in Christ”. The youth pastor will develop and implement programs or initiatives designed to attract students and meet their spiritual needs. The ministry will need to be focused upon introducing individuals to Jesus Christ, helping those who know Christ to grow in their walk with Him, equipping them and their leaders alike to do the work of the ministry, and providing opportunities for ministry.
Qualifications:
1. A vital personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
2. Meet the leadership qualifications in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
3. A desire to work with students & young adults, with a passion for their development.
4. An ability to connect with those in these age groups through teaching and interactions.
5. An ability to train teams to serve alongside you in this endeavor.
6. Spiritual gifts relevant to the position.
7. Submit to and pass a background check
8. Willingness/desire for additional training and growth.
9. Committed to teamwork.
10. Committed to the ministry philosophy and values of NorthWinds Church (appendix A)
General Ministry Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and oversee all student ministry programs.
-- Student Ministries meets every Sunday night from 6-7:30 pm
2. Faithfully attend church services and church wide activities.
a. Morning worship is 9 and 10:45 am on the first through 3rd Sundays.
b. Each 4th & 5th Sunday we have a combined service at 10 am.
c. Each 5th Sunday we have a “carry-in” fellowship meal following the service.
3. Be the primary teacher of the student ministries program.
4. Pray for those in your ministry spectrum.
5. Be accountable directly to the Lead Pastor.
6. Be prepared for and attend bi-weekly meetings with the Lead Pastor.
a. Discuss weekly goals, accomplishments, concerns, etc…
7. Promote student ministries to the church and local community.
8. Develop and oversee a yearly budget for the student ministry.
9. Make the Lead Pastor aware of any situations (regardless of how minor they may appear) which could affect the church, or where additional counsel is needed.
10. Build relationships while keeping appropriate boundaries.
Student ministries at NorthWinds and in our community (approximately 80% of your time)
1. Disciple and mentor teens for ministry and leadership roles.
2. Recruit and train a team of volunteers (some volunteers are currently active)
3. Create ministry opportunities for the students.
4. Provide retreats, conferences, camps, ministry opportunities, mission trips, etc…
5. Develop activities that provide opportunities for fun and fellowship.
6. Develop outreach events that appeal and reach out to the unsaved.
Responsibilities in an additional area of giftedness (approximately 20% of your time)
1. Because this will be determined based upon the chosen candidate’s giftedness, responsibilities will be established upon the choosing of a candidate for hire.
We are a non-denominational church of about 250, located in a rural area of Wayne County, OH. We are a contemporary church that places a high value on the Word of God and its relevance to every aspect of life. Our pastors and teachers love to see the Word of God come alive in the hearts and minds of those who hear it taught. We seek to be creative in our teaching, worship and outreach, knowing that no one method or style is perfect or will appeal to everyone.
