About First Baptist Church of Gray, Georgia

The First Baptist Church of Gray is located about 90 miles southeast of Atlanta in the heart of Middle Georgia. Our church is located in downtown Gray, a community of over 3,000 people in a county (Jones) of over 28,000. However, a number of our members drive in from Macon, Milledgeville and the surrounding counties. It is a beautiful area of Georgia known for its hometown feel, deer hunting, the number 1 Dairy Queen in the world (literally) and an excellent school system.

The Lord has blessed us with members of all ages. From bed babies to nonagenarians, all are welcomed and treasured. Our theme is to Make Jesus Known. While not incredibly creative, it is the mission of THE church and of our church. Our students reach out for Jesus in their schools and through the FCA. We have readers that are in the schools each week teaching children to read and building relationships we pray will lead them to Jesus. We feed over 100 elementary age children each week through our Jesus' Hands backpack program that is funded and staffed with both FBC-G and community members. And these are just a representation of our reach into the community.

We treasure our worship. Our worship services consist of both contemporary music and traditional hymns. We call our style "unified." We have a 10 piece brass and wind orchestra along with a band, an experienced and talented pianist and multiple keyboardists. While one group might be favored in a service over another on any given date, they all participate and take glory in the fact that the Lord uses their talents to build the church.

Sometimes our worship includes music from our children's choir. You never lose with kids on the platform. Currently, every fifth Sunday worship is a "multi-gen" Sunday where anyone of any age who would like to sing is on platform lifting up their voices to the Lord in a multigenerational choir.

The Lord has blessed our desire to follow Jesus. We believe in Bible based expository preaching. We are elder led and congregationally directed. Our goal is to follow Jesus and to Make Jesus Known.

We are looking for the Lord to lead someone to us who will fall in love with the community and make it his home. We are looking for someone who loves people and is willing to be loved by people. We are looking for someone with both performance and technical talent, but mostly we are looking for someone whose heart burns with passion to worship the Lord and have people join them in that worship.

Our services can be seen on our website, fbcgray.com. Click on the home tab and scroll to the bottom.

If you are being called to a place where the fields are white, where hearts are hungry and where the church delights in worship, consider if the Lord is calling you to FBC-G.
