Student Pastor

Church at the Cross is a driven, dynamic, and hungry multicultural church in the heart of Central FL. CATC is looking to do whatever it takes to make much of Jesus, not holding on to old models and methods for tradition’s sake but rather constantly evaluating how to do things most creatively and effectively to reach people for the Gospel. We have an enormous task to accomplish and a long way to go, but we are on the right track.

We seek a passionate and driven Student Pastor with a heart to do whatever it takes to see students mold into the image of God. We need someone who cares not only for the discipleship and evangelism of the students we currently have but also for the discipleship and evangelism of unchurched students. Church at the Cross is located in one of the fastest growing areas within the country, with a constant influx of new families from all over the country and world pouring into our community. We also have a great Christian school that brings over 500 students to our campus every weekday; many are unchurched. This is an opportunity for someone hungry and driven to hit a home run for the Glory of the Lord. Will it be easy? Absolutely not... but it will be worth it!!!

Responsibilities

1. Leadership: This position will oversee all youth (6th through 12th grade) church events, services, discipleship groups, Sunday morning small groups, etc.

2. Teaching & Preaching: The Student Pastor must be called to and gifted in preaching/ teaching students while also having a passion to continually grow in their teaching effectiveness.

3. Leadership Development: We must view our need for volunteers as an opportunity to disciple adults and students to engage in ministry alongside us. The Student Pastor must equip others to serve.

4. Special Event Planning/Execution: Organize and execute regular Student Ministry events, camps, and outreach initiatives to engage, equip, and evangelize.

5. Relationship Building: Foster deep, personal relationships with students and families to guide them in their walk with Christ. Build relationships with youth within and outside official programming by attending student events, games, etc.

6. Counseling & Support: Provide pastoral care and guidance to students during key life moments, including challenges, transitions, and spiritual milestones.

7. Collaboration: The Student Pastor must be a team player and passionate about all aspects of the ministry here at Church at the Cross. When help is needed in any ministry, all staff come running.

8. Community Engagement: Develop opportunities for students to serve their community and grow through acts of service. Plan, organize, and/or coordinate any community outreach events.

9. Cultural Relevance: Stay current on trends and issues affecting students and integrate them into ministry approaches.

10. Administrative Oversight: Manage ministry resources, schedules, and communication to ensure the smooth operation of the Student Ministry.

11. Central Florida Christian Academy: We are blessed to have a Christian school, which is also a significant ministry opportunity. The Student Pastor will also serve as the school chaplain. This includes ministering to students’ individual spiritual needs and organizing chapel services, school mission trips/retreats, and discipleship groups.
