Lakepoint Church

About the Students Pastor Position:

Student Ministries includes grades 5-12th at Lakepoint Church, and it’s growing quickly. We had 16 students in average attendance back in 2019, it grew to 30 by 2021, 40 by 2023, 60 by 2024, and even without any outside friend growth (which there is plenty), we will be at 75 with the new incoming class Summer of 2025. There are a few things we can attribute the growth to: 1) A number of students who are really owning their faith and are on mission to help their friends find Jesus, 2) A really strong base of 18 adult leaders who are pouring into these students, 3) A 5-year running transition program that allows for 5th and 6th grade students to attend both Sunday morning kids ministry and Wednesday night students ministry, but mostly 4) Simple, meaningful connections with Jesus and each other that are worth coming back for.

We have had part-time students pastors in the past, but currently, we have had Lakepoint’s Lead Pastor running High School and our Discipleship Pastor running Middle School for three years. It’s time for us to jump back in with a Pastor of their own for our students. This time, we are planning to bring them in full-time.

Middle School meets Wednesday night with 5th-6th and 7th-8th running pretty independently of each other. One group plays a game while the other completes a lesson, then they flip. 5th-6th’s emphasis is on foundations with Jesus - being with him, like him, and a whole lot more than a Sunday school story. For 7th-8th, the emphasis is on navigating choices.

High School meets Sunday nights, starting with food and fun, and then transitioning to Student-led Bible discussions (the adult leaders just supervise). We want all of our students to graduate knowing how to handle the Bible for self and others. The night concludes with group spiritual direction - an intentional space for prayer and reflection that brings the lesson together.

We have a College Age small group that is thriving on it’s own, but we still like to pop in on them to provide encouragement and resourcing.

The Students Pastor will be responsible for providing spiritual leadership, developing and executing a vision for student ministry, and creating an engaging environment where students can grow in their faith. The ideal candidate will connect with students on their level, lead and inspire volunteers, and partner with parents to build a comprehensive discipleship program.

The Students Pastor Will Provide:

  • Spiritual Leadership: Lead a vitalized experience by which our students know who Jesus is to them personally, feel Jesus in their hearts, and live the ways of Jesus contextualized to their everyday lives.
  • Program Development: Plan some really killer games, gatherings, and events on a weekly basis.
  • Teams:  Draw team members in with outstanding leadership, develop them in their personal gifting, and connect and coordinate them together.
  • Discipleship: Develop a discipleship strategy that helps students build a strong foundation in their faith and prepares them for a lifetime of following Christ. Start by learning what’s already working.
  • Outreach: Reach students outside our church with good news. Equip & Send Lakepoint students to reach their everyday circles where they are at. Facilitate compelling, publicized, invitation opportunities for local students to meet us where we are at.
  • Parent Partnership: Engage and equip parents to support their child’s spiritual development at home.
  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and the church community regarding ministry activities and events.
  • Administrative Duties: Oversee the student ministry budget, ensure safety policies are followed, and handle other administrative responsibilities as needed.
  • Lakepoint Church-Wide Pastoring:  Function as a member of the church's pastoral staff providing church-wide connections, care, a preaching on rotation.
  • Culture: Demonstrate a love for the distinctives of Lakepoint Church: connecting people to Jesus in everyday life through everyday relationships, viewing kids as today's church, and equipping disciples for gospel living.
  • Church Planting (Optional). Lakepoint Church is heavily involved in the planting of other churches. Applicants for this position have the option to add “Church Planter in Residence” to their role, if they believe a lead role in church planting may be in their future.

Qualifications:

  • A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and a commitment to leading a Jesus-centered life.
  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to connect with students in an authentic, relational way.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a volunteer team.
  • A heart for the local church and a passion for developing the next generation of Jesus-followers.
  • Ability to align with Lakepoint Church’s mission, vision, and core values.

Compensation:

Lakepoint Church offers a competitive salary, benefits package, and opportunities for professional development. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
