Pastoral Leader

Adams Village Baptist Church (AVBC), a medium-sized American Baptist church in southern Jefferson County, NY, is seeking a new pastor to help our faithful, mission-minded congregation (82 active members) discern the path that God has planned for us. In support of our mission “to be a Christian community where people feel inspired to share their time and talents to glorify God and experience His love as they grow in faith and fellowship,” we have a supportive Church Council; an excellent choir; a dedicated Missions Team; a small children’s Sunday School program; an adult Bible Study group; and an extremely active slate of volunteers who lead a wide variety of fellowship activities.

We recognize that excellent pastors are in high demand and short supply. Therefore, we welcome applicants who are seeking full-time, part-time, bi-vocational or shared positions. And, though our affiliation with American Baptist Churches, USA is an important part of our history, we are open to considering a qualified candidate who possesses the spirituality, leadership, compassion, and enthusiasm that would make him/her a good fit for AVBC. Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging sermons and teachings that inspire and guide the congregation.

• Provide bereavement support and hospice care to families in need.

• Lead and mentor church members through various programs and events.

• Plan and organize church events, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

• Manage conflicts and crises within the community with compassion and understanding.

• Offer Christian counseling and guidance to individuals seeking spiritual support.

Qualifications

• Strong public speaking and presentation skills

• Proven leadership and effective communication abilities

• Excellent writing skills for sermon preparation and community outreach

• Background in teaching and mentoring within a church setting

• Proficient in event planning, crisis intervention, and conflict management
