Director of Music and Worship

Lutheran Church of the Resurrection has an immediate opening for an experienced Director of Music and Worship. This position requires a passionate individual who can educate, communicate effectively, and inspire others through music and worship. The Director of Music and Worship coordinates traditional worship with pastors, directs the chancel choir and provides leadership and resources for musicians.

Duties Include, but are not limited to:

·     Plan, coordinate and lead the congregation in liturgy and hymns at the traditional worship services; work collegially with staff and volunteers.

·     Conduct choir(s) and ensembles and lead traditional worship on organ or piano as skills apply.

·     Schedule and direct rehearsals for choir, soloists, instrumentalists and ensembles providing supervision and leadership as required.

·     Involve a range of age groups in music and worship programs.

·   Attend church staff meetings and Worship and Music Committee meetings.

·   Assist and work collegially with the Worship and Music Committee chair and committee in  developing an annual spending plan, maintaining the music library, and maintaining instruments.

·     Collaborate with pastors and other staff in selecting appropriate music that coordinates with the liturgical church calendar.  

·     Produce, arrange, and coordinate church holiday concerts and celebrations.

Required Skills and Preferred Qualifications:

·      Proven experience in leading worship with the use of music in a church setting or similar environment. Must have a heart to lead people in worship.

·      Two to five years of experience directing choirs.

·      Demonstrated knowledge of Lutheran theology, (or similar), liturgical practice, and use of music in worship.

·   Demonstrated skill and competency at the keyboard and/or organ.

·   Ability to work well with others and participate collegially with pastors, staff and congregational leaders.

·   Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills..

Other:

·     College degree in a related field, preferred.

·     Pass a background check.

·     Hourly position; $27 - $32 per hour based upon experience.

·     Part-time position; 24 hours per week.
