Pastoral Leadership Qualifications and Responsibilities


Scripture-centered Ministry

  • Well-versed in Scripture and dedicated to regular personal Bible study
  • Believes in the divine authority of Scripture and the free gift of salvation to all who believe
  • Devoted to help disciple the church toward greater spiritual maturity through Bible teaching and preaching


Prayer and Worship

  • Believes in the power of prayer and maintains a consistent prayer life--personally and with the congregation
  • Ensures that all services are Christ-centered (church services, prayer services, weddings, funerals, and the two church ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper)


Pastor’s Heart

  • Has a shepherd’s heart; devoted to love, serve and protect the congregation with all transparency
  • Creates a welcoming atmosphere within the church family, prioritizes hospitality and leads by example
  • Demonstrates initiative, compassion, friendliness and humility; lending spiritual support, prayer and encouragement during times of sickness, bereavement and challenge


Skilled Communicator

  • Effectively communicates biblical principles with practical application for daily living
  • Skilled in communicating with people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs
  • Leads with love, humility, kindness, compassion, discernment and truth


Mission-minded Leadership

  • Leads the congregation to help meet the needs of others by demonstrating God’s love through acts of service
  • Has a passion for local and foreign missions and is willing to engage in mission projects and community outreach


Planning and Oversight

  • Desires church growth; stays in open dialog with the Board about potential plans and goals for the church
  • Provides oversight and encouragement to the Bible teachers within the church
  • Maintains cordial, and ethical relationships with our property landlords and other community partners


Administrative Leadership

  • Engages with every age group, oversees staff management, supports teaching staff, teams and volunteers
  • If requested by the Board, is willing to assist/advise in updating and/or creating church documents
  • Strives to keep the church debt-free and free of financial burden, ensuring fiscal responsibility

Summary: We are a small, multi-generational, debt-free church actively seeking a pastor. Our prospective pastor must have a deep faith in Jesus Christ with a personal testimony of his salvation and pastoral calling, and must meet the biblical qualifications of pastor and overseer as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. He must be committed to biblical truth, discipleship, outreach, and must possess strong leadership, communication and pastoral care skills.
