A.  Overview

The Youth Director will primarily be responsible for developing resilient followers of Jesus by helping students cultivate a Biblical worldview and strong personal faith. Through careful planning and preparation, the Youth Director will lead regular Bible study sessions, discipleship, praise and worship, evangelism, missions education, missions involvement, and fellowship events for students in a safe (both physically and emotionally) and engaging environment. This part-time position requires availability on Wednesday evenings, Sunday Mornings, and Sunday evenings.

B. Qualifications

1. The Youth Director should possess a contagious passion for Jesus.

2. This person should be an approachable and outgoing Christian, a member in good standing of an evangelical church, in agreement with the Church Statement of Faith, and must become a member of Calvary Baptist Church Natchitoches.

3. This individual must possess a genuine commitment to the gospel ministry and a strong sense of divine calling towards youth ministry.

4. This individual must possess the ability to plan, organize, direct, and lead the Youth Ministry of a dynamic and growing church while remaining up-to-date with best practices for engaging youth.

5. This person should possess sufficient skills and experience to relate Bible teachings and applications to real-life questions and situations that concern youth and their families in an increasingly challenging culture.

6. This person should demonstrate the ability to meaningfully interact and communicate with youth and their families to build lasting, redemptive relationships.

7. This person must demonstrate the ability to recruit, train, empower, and lead a team of ministry volunteers.

8. A bachelor's degree in a related field or a seminary degree is preferred, though not mandatory.

C. Responsibilities

1. Serve and support the church's vision, mission, and strategic plan.

2. Leadership

a. Encourage students and their families to know and follow Jesus while cultivating a Biblical worldview that fosters cultural discernment.

b. Foster a dynamic, meaningful, and safe environment- both physically and emotionally- for the spiritual growth of youth.

c. Strategize, create, and implement an action plan to cultivate a vibrant and growing ministry for youth. This involves Bible study, discipleship, praise and worship, evangelism, missions education, missions involvement, outreach, service, intergenerational participation, and fellowship in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and ministry volunteers.

d. Coordinate and lead youth programming on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday nights, and/or other youth activities in collaboration with the Senior Pastor, administration, and ministry volunteers.

e. Planned, implemented, and attended youth summer camps, retreats, mission activities, outreach events, fundraisers, and other church-sanctioned youth events.

f. Recruit, inspire, train, empower, and equip ministry volunteers to support the vision of the youth ministry while coordinating their scheduling.

g. Develop and lead a Youth Ministry Council for planning, collaboration, scheduling, and accountability.

3. Communication

a. Establish an efficient informational network to convey schedules and responsibilities to ministry volunteers.

b. Draft written communications and updates about Youth Ministry for parents and church families.

4. Finance

a. Prepare and manage the budget according to the established guidelines and in compliance with CBC Natchitoches policies and procedures.

b. Purchase supplies necessary to equip the ministry.

5. Safety

a. Oversee the safety and cleanliness of the youth ministry space.

b. Assist the church office in maintaining essential student health records.

c. Develop and maintain handbooks for Family Orientation and Ministry Volunteers.

d. Ensure that background checks are properly completed for all youth ministry volunteers before they participate.

6. The Youth Director shall:

a. Report directly to and be under the guidance of the Senior Pastor, Deacon Board, and Administration.

b. Assist the Pastoral Team with ministry care.

c. Collaborate closely with leadership teams and other church staff members.

d. Collaborate with the Pastor and administration to make Calvary Baptist Church a friendly and welcoming environment for youth and their families.

D. Compensation and Benefits

1. Compensation shall be determined by the church based on the recommendation of the Personnel Committee when a call is extended by the church.

2. Compensation will be based on a salary rate equivalent to 20 hours per week and may be adjusted as necessary by the Personnel Committee.

E. Additional duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor, Deacons Board, and Administration.
