Covenant Church and the communication role in a nutshell.
We are looking for a Communication Director to join our incredible team—someone with proven experience, humble leadership, and a people-first mindset. At Covenant Church, our vision is to become a movement of people who live and love like Jesus. We value leaders who foster a culture that inspires and mobilizes people to reflect God’s love in every aspect of their lives, seven days a week.
We seek a Communication Director who is not only a strategic thinker and skilled storyteller but also a leader who excels in recruiting, equipping, coaching, and supporting a strong team. This role requires expertise in developing and executing clear, compelling communication across multiple platforms, including digital, print, and social media. More than just managing content, we need a leader who champions the mission, celebrates the success of others, and ensures our messaging effectively reaches and engages our church and community.
We believe that Sunday is the starting line, not the finish line—communication is a vital part of how we extend our mission throughout the week. If this resonates with you, we’d love to start a conversation.
Greenville, North Carolina is a great place.
Greenville is growing city located in the coastal plains of eastern North Carolina. It lives along the Tar River and has numerous parks, trails, and is the gateway to many of North Carolina’s amazing beaches along the Crystal Coast and Outer Banks. Postcard towns like New Bern, Beaufort, and Belhaven are great day trips, or cities like Washington DC, Asheville, Charleston, and Baltimore are road trip destinations that can be reached by lunch. Greenville is diverse, proud, and a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Most importantly, Greenville is receptive to the Gospel, and we want God to use us in this great city. We need brave and bold leaders to help us reach it.
Job Description
Those who hold positions of leadership at Covenant must commit themselves to living out Covenant’s desire to become a movement of people who live and love like Jesus—this must be central to our ministry leadership. We value honesty, unity, initiative, and intentionality as we humbly serve those God has placed within our care. With this in mind, we ask our Communications Director to help shape a healthy staff and volunteer culture within a communication ministry that helps accomplish the following responsibilities in ways aligned with Covenant’s vision and ministry philosophy.
Communication strategy and execution
Develop overall strategy to help communicate clearly, and share our ongoing story as a church family, and develop metrics to help evaluate our overall effectiveness in order to make better informed decisions. Foster a culture of authenticity, honesty, and ‘realness’ as opposed to curated digital experiences.
Content Creation & Branding
Design engaging visuals (sermon graphics, social media, signage) and craft compelling copy for digital, print, and promotional materials while maintaining brand consistency.
Digital & Social Media
Manage website updates, execute a strategic content calendar, and foster and facilitate community engagement through social media.
Video & Service Communications
Support weekly platform announcements, develop ProPresenter graphics, and share impactful ministry stories.
Project & Event Communications
Partner with ministry leaders to develop marketing strategies, coordinate print/digital materials, and execute outreach campaigns.
Internal & External Messaging
Maintain staff communications, oversee Clearstream text messaging, and manage church-wide and ministry-specific emails.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and equip staff, volunteers, and external contractors, ensuring smooth coordination across departments.
