Job Description

St. Anthony Catholic Church is seeking a passionate, faith-filled lay ministry professional to serve as a key member of our parish staff. This full-time position focuses on nurturing a vibrant culture of discipleship by engaging parishioners of all ages, with a special emphasis on youth and families.

The Faith Life Coordinator will invite individuals and families into deeper relationship with Christ through personal outreach, spiritual formation, and active participation in parish life. The ideal candidate is someone who can connect across generations—especially with junior high and high school youth—and who lives out their Catholic faith with authenticity, joy, and a heart for relational ministry.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Direct and coordinate the Junior High and High School Youth Groups through regular gatherings, catechesis, service projects, retreats, and special events.

·       Develop and lead Young Adult Ministry (ages 19–35), providing opportunities for spiritual growth, community engagement, and outreach.

·       Serve as a faith life connector for parishioners of all ages—welcoming, accompanying, and inviting them into fuller involvement in the Church’s life and ministries.

·       Collaborate with the Pastor and Pastoral Associate to implement strategies for engagement beyond Sunday Mass through outreach, small groups, and relational ministry.

·       Assist with the orientation and integration of new parishioners, helping them feel known, welcomed, and included.

·       Coordinate Children’s Liturgy of the Word on Sundays, including the recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteers.

·       Recruit, support, and equip volunteers of all ages for participation in various ministries and parish events.

·       Participate in pastoral outreach to homebound parishioners, offering care and spiritual connection.

·       Help promote parish activities, events, and ministries through various communication channels, including digital and print.

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Practicing Catholic in good standing, with a commitment to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field.

·       Demonstrated experience working with youth, young adults, and/or families in a ministry setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Bilingual in English and Spanish.

·       Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

·       Comfort with digital tools, social media, and contemporary forms of evangelization.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in order to be present for youth gatherings, liturgies, retreats, and parish events.

About St. Anthony Catholic Church

St. Anthony's is the second oldest church in the state of Iowa. It is located in downtown Davenport, Iowa. We serve a very diverse congregation with a large Hispanic population. Aside from the beauty of our church, people are drawn to St. Anthon's because of its service to those in need. Our daily outreach to the homeless and the working poor happens Monday through Friday as we serve a hot meal, provide clothing, bus tokens, and bikes. Our food pantry helps people to eat more than the hot meal we provide and they can take the food home to feed those in their families. Our ministry of presence focuses on getting to know and walk with those in need, encouraging, praying with, and listening. We offer opportunities for AA, women and men's support group, self-help classes including personal finance, job coaching, and building conscientiousness.
