Job Description

We are looking for an interim Pastor or FT Lead Pastor to serve as the primary spiritual leader of the church, responsible for preaching, pastoral care, vision casting, and equipping the congregation for gospel-centered living. This role requires a deep commitment to biblical authority, spiritual maturity, and relational leadership. A college degree in theology, ministry, or a related field is preferred to ensure theological depth and pastoral competence.


Reports To: Board Chair and Head Elder


Key Responsibilities:


1. Preaching & Teaching

  • Deliver weekly sermons grounded in Scripture with theological clarity and cultural relevance.
  • Oversee the development of teaching series and discipleship curricula.
  • Equip the congregation to apply biblical truth in daily life.

2. Pastoral Care

  • Provide spiritual counseling, prayer, and support to individuals and families.
  • Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other key life events.
  • Visit the sick, grieving, and homebound as needed.

3. Leadership & Vision

  • Collaborate with elders and ministry leaders to discern and implement the church’s mission and vision.
  • Lead staff and volunteers with humility, integrity, and strategic clarity.
  • Foster a culture of renewal, discipleship, and outreach.

4. Worship & Liturgy

  • Plan and lead worship services in partnership with worship leaders.
  • Integrate Scripture, prayer, and sacraments into meaningful liturgical rhythms.

5. Administration & Oversight

  • Participate in budget planning, stewardship, and operational oversight.
  • Supervise church staff and ensure alignment with mission and values.
  • Support governance processes, including congregational meetings and bylaw adherence.

6. Community Engagement

  • Represent the church in the local community and interfaith initiatives.
  • Encourage outreach, service, and evangelism efforts.

Qualifications

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a life marked by spiritual maturity.
  • Strong agreement with the church’s statement of faith and core values.
  • Proven experience in preaching, leadership, and pastoral care.
  • Theological education (seminary degree preferred but not required).
  • Excellent communication, relational, and organizational skills.
  • A shepherd’s heart with a servant-leader posture (1 Peter 5:2–3).

Compensation

  • Salary Range: Commensurate with experience, education.
  • Housing Allowance: Tax-free housing allowance provided in accordance with IRS guidelines (or parsonage, if applicable).

  • Parental Leave: Paid leave for birth or adoption, as determined by church policy.
  • Sick Leave: Paid sick days as needed, with accountability to the elder board.
