Children's Pastor

Job Summary:

New Life Church requires a passionate and creative Children's Pastor to lead our ministry for children and their families. The Children's Pastor will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and biblically-grounded environment where children can learn about Jesus and grow in their faith. We are a church committed to Loving God and Loving Others and we seek to Grow, Go, Together as the Church. This role is vital to carrying out the vision and mission of New Life Church.

Key Responsibilities:

Ministry Leadership:

• Oversee all aspects of the children's ministry (e.g., Sunday school, children's church, VBS, special events) for children from birth through elementary age.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and programming.
• Create a fun, welcoming, and spiritually formative environment for children.
• Present in Children’s Classrooms on a minimum of 3 out of 4 Sundays per month (and similarly for Wednesdays as programming requires).

Volunteer Recruitment and Development:

• Recruit, train, schedule, and empower a team of volunteers to serve in the children's ministry.
• Provide ongoing support, appreciation, and discipleship for volunteers.

Family Engagement:

• Build relationships with families and support parents in the spiritual development of their children.
• Communicate effectively with parents about ministry activities and resources.

Safety and Security:

• Ensure the implementation and adherence to all child safety policies and procedures.
• Oversee background checks and volunteer screening processes.

Administration:

• Manage the children's ministry budget.
• Oversee ministry resources and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and volunteer information.

Qualifications:

Spiritual:

• A vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Possesses a genuine love for children and a heart for their spiritual growth.
• Commitment to prayer and spiritual disciplines.
• Agreement with the church's statement of faith and doctrinal positions.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Children's Ministry, Christian Education, Theology, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

• Previous experience working with children in a church or ministry setting.
• Experience leading and developing volunteers.
• Experience planning and executing children's programs and events.

Skills and Attributes:

• Excellent communication skills, particularly with children and parents.
• Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Ability to recruit, motivate, and lead volunteers.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for children's ministry.
• Patience, warmth, and a nurturing spirit.
• Knowledge of child safety best practices.

Time Requirements, Compensation and Benefits:

• This position is a Part-Time position and will require a 5 day work week, Sunday through Thursday for roughly 5 hours/day or combination thereof up to a maximum of 30 hours per work week. The occasional work obligation outside this timeframe, including nights and extended weekends may be necessary.
• This is a salary position (pay rate/range to be determined based on commensurate experience and other qualifications) 
• Paid Time Off (PTO) and participation in a church sponsored 403(b) retirement plan is available.

Addendum:

• This position, in alignment with church needs, may also be combined with other part-time duties/responsibilities to constitute a full-time position. *As the church grows, these positions may be spun off into separate positions and may or may not fall under the covering/authority of this position.
