CEF® is a Bible-centered, interdenominational, worldwide organization, composed of born-again believers whose purpose and mission are to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, disciple them in the Word of God, and establish them in a Bible-believing church for Christian living.
The local director is ultimately a developer of volunteers, other leaders, and is the face of the local chapter.
Qualifications:
1. Must be a born-again Christian, saved by the blood of Christ, and believes in the inerrancy of the word of God.
2. Must have demonstrated love for Jesus Christ and prayer, and an unquestionable passion to reach children with the Gospel.
3. Must be able to recognize how God moves in our midst as He builds the local work one person/one church at a time.
4. Must be willing to work under the explicit direction of the local Board.
5. Must be a leader who communicates effectively, continues to learn, and is a team player.
6. Must have administrative skills for planning & analysis of chapter operations, and a basic understanding of ministry finances.
7. Must love the local church and understand how to mobilize them as ministry partners.
8. Must have skills to identify other leaders, organize groups, cast vision and evaluate the ministry programs.
9. Educational requirements include 1 year of bible college or equivalent, and willingness to complete Children's Ministries Institute (12 weeks).
10. Must be at least 21 years of age with a high school diploma.
General Responsibilities:
1. Fulfilling the purpose of Child Evangelism Fellowship.
2. Executing and accomplishing the plans and objectives of the local board, state board, and CEF USA Ministries.
3. Oversight of all ministry within the local chapter, under the direction of the local board.
Specific Responsibilities Ministry: The Local Director must:
1. Develop, implement and grow an effective prayer program.
2. Aggressively pursue church partnerships that fulfill the full purpose of CEF: reaching, teaching, and connecting the next generation to God and His church.
3. Enlist, equip, develop, and encourage paid staff and volunteers to become an effective, multi-staff team.
4. Maintain a level of direct ministry contact with children to understand generational trends and adequately evaluate the effectiveness of CEF programs.
5. Build and maintain Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) ministry. Enlist staff and volunteers to help recruit short-term missionaries.
6. Provide year-round ministry opportunities for CYIA missionaries, such as the Good News Spectacular, volunteering at CEF IHQ, short-term missions, Good News Across lowa, etc.
7. Participate in CYIA training school as assigned by the State Director.
8. Strive to establish, develop and improve ministry effectiveness, and target unreached areas within the local chapter.
Leadership: The Local Director will:
1. Work with the local Board to establish vision and strategic plans for reaching and discipling all children, striving to connect them with their local churches.
2. Meet regularly with paid and volunteer staff to provide encouragement, counsel, and direction/delegation.
3. Assist paid and volunteer staff in developing and evaluating their ministry goals.
4. Encourage the local Board to take advantage of Board training opportunities as they are available.
5. Implement strategies to raise sufficient funds to accomplish the plans and objectives laid out by the local Board, as well as to cover the annual chapter budget.
6. Complete routine assessment of all paid staff.
7. Develop leadership skills in paid staff, volunteers and summer missionaries.
8. Oversee (teach as needed) and evaluate the teacher training program.
Administrative: The Local Director will:
1. Effectively communicate and implement the vision and strategic plan to evangelize and disciple children within the local chapter.
2. Ensure that all CEF policies, procedures, and best practices are being followed, including governance.
3.Keep accurate, complete and organized records.
4. Work with local Board to develop and submit an annual budget to the State Director by November 1, for state board approval to be implemented on January 1 of the calendar year.
5. Ensure that all reports, minutes, communications and funds are forwarded to the proper offices in a timely manner.
6. Send out thank you notes and receipts in a timely manner.
7. Communicate accurately and in a timely manner about chapter matters and condition to the State Director and the local Board, following the proper channels.
8. Attend all local Director/Staff meetings sponsored by the State office.
9. Carry out agenda discussed and approved by the local Board.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the local Board and /or State Director.
