About Food For The Poor                         

Food For The Poor, one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. This interdenominational Christian ministry provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance. "Join us in our mission to serve the poorest of the poor." 


Overall Responsibility:

Food For The Poor is seeking ordained clergy -- Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, and other denominations -- to preach on behalf of the poor we serve in the Caribbean and Latin America.  

Through sharing of the Gospel and Spirit-filled encounters, the mission of the Clergy Speaker is to inspire church families to become active supports of the ministry of FFTP. 

 

*** Our most immediate need is for qualified Roman Catholics and Episcopalians. 

 

Duties:

Through the Clergy Speaker’s message and the Spirit’s prompting, will work with congregations to: 

  • Gain their immediate financial commitment to FFTP's service to the poor. 
  • Gather their contact information in a desire to continue a relationship with FFTP by receiving additional literature reminding them of the material and spiritual needs of the people served by FFTP. 
  • Get their commitment to deepen their prayers for the poor and the Church. Preaching assignments are on weekends in parishes and congregations throughout the United States.
  • The position requires at least one weekend of travel each month, one mission trip each year, and attendance at an annual convocation. Speakers must participate in weekly online meetings with Food For The Poor team members, as well as other duties as needed and mutually agreed upon.  
  • The position begins as part-time, but full-time employment may be available for those wishing to form deeper relationships with the parishes and congregations we serve. 

      

 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be an ordained clergy from Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, and other denominations. Our most immediate need is for qualified Roman Catholics and Episcopalians. 
  • Must be in good standing with their Diocese, religious order, or church, and have the full approval of their superiors.  
  • Must have a love for the poor and be passionate about eradicating poverty and its effects. 
  • Able to travel via airplane and/or car to assign churches across the USA for weekend assignments.   
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive unaccompanied.   

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Must be an ordained clergy from Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, and other denominations
  • Must be in good standing with their Diocese, religious order, or church, and have the full approval of their superiors.
