Faith Covenant is a mid-sized church (100–150 weekly attendance) with a heart for Christ,
community, and the next generation. We’re seeking a Family and Children’s Ministry (FCM)
Director to be responsible for the oversight and leadership of the children’s ministry programs.
This role provides direction and guidance to program development, coordination,
implementation and direction to staff and volunteers who are committed to shepherding
children, birth through fifth grade along with their families. The FCM Director is a servant leader
who has a heart for young families and loves children and wants to help them develop their own
personal relationship with God.
This role isn’t just about maintaining programs — it’s about building something vital: a ministry
that nurtures faith at home and equips parents. In addition to internal ministry, the FCM Director
will help lead the church in deepening our connection with the surrounding community—building
bridges with local families, schools, and neighborhoods so that we increasingly reflect and serve
the people around us. Candidates should have experience in attracting and nurturing new
families, as evidenced by increasing the number of families participating in this ministry. As the
ministry grows, additional hours may be added to the director role.
Responsibilities include:
● Develop and oversee all aspects of the children’s ministry (nursery through
elementary), including Sunday school, children’s church, and midweek programs
● Create and implement a vision and programming for family ministry that supports
and equips parents as the primary spiritual leaders of their homes
● Build relationships with children and families to foster community and encourage
regular participation
● Collaborate with pastoral staff and church leadership to integrate children and family
ministries into the overall mission of the church
● Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for all children’s and family ministry programs
● Plan and lead special events such as Vacation Bible School, holiday programs, family
fun nights, and outreach events
● Select and manage curriculum that aligns with the church’s theology and engages
children in age-appropriate spiritual development
● Promote ministry programs through church communications, including bulletins,
website, email, and social media
● Ensure a safe and welcoming environment by maintaining child protection policies,
background checks, and safety procedures
● Monitor and manage the ministry budget, including resources, supplies, and event
planning costs
● Attend regular staff meetings
● Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
● Passion for nurturing the spiritual growth of children and families within a Christ-centered
environment
● Strong leadership and organizational skills, with experience recruiting and training a
team of volunteers
● Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to connect with children, parents,
and church staff
● Ability to plan and lead engaging events, Bible studies, and outreach activities for
children and families
● Understanding of child development and age-appropriate faith formation strategies
● A heart for ministry and a commitment to fostering a welcoming, safe, and inclusive
environment
● Willingness to collaborate with pastoral staff and church leadership to align ministry
goals with the church’s mission
● Strong computer and social media skills
● Prior experience with children’s programming in a church setting is a plus
