Position Summary: GraceCity is a racially diverse, multi-generational non-denominational church located in Locust Point. GraceCity is in search of a contract musician to lead our worship band. This person would work in concert with our worship coordinator and our other worship team members. Our worship team currently consists of paid and volunteer musicians and vocalists. This position works with the pastoral team, worship team, and operational team in planning and directing the worship services, music program and ministries of GraceCity.
The ideal candidate will primarily play keyboard/piano. Expansion of role (and additional compensation possible) based on experience and musical abilities may include development and training of volunteer musicians, musical arrangement, and assisting with management of music library, equipment, and supplies.
Specific Responsibilities and expectations:
Musical Responsibilities
- Provide musical leadership for our worship band for each of the church’s weekly worship services including but not limited to Sunday moorings. This will involve preparation and preparing input on musical arrangement.
- Develop an approach to worship and events in such a way that the mission of the church is emphasized.
- As decided with the pastoral team, attendance and participation in leading at larger GraceCity area worship training events.
Skills:
- Requires music training and/or a college degree, and participation in continuing education initiatives.
- Requires 3-5 years of experience in a music church staff or other music-related position.
- Requires ability to play at least one musical instrument skillfully, and while leading.
- Requires the ability to listen effectively and to communicate clearly, both orally and in written form.
- Requires exceptional speaking skills and the ability to speak confidently before groups.
- Requires commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
- Requires sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.
- Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires passing criminal, financial and sexual misconduct background checks.
Availability and expectations:
- Saturday rehearsals (10am - 11am) in Locust Point (time negotiable)
- Sunday services (10:15 - 12:30pm) (Service is from 11:00am - 12:15pm)
- Qualified candidates are responsible for transportation to and from church and other events.
- Participate and lead worship needs for special events including but not limited to: Christmas eve, Good Friday, Easter, Baptisms, and other events.
