Pastor of Students & Church Development

People of Hope Church

Job Description

People of Hope is a modern, creative, Jesus-centered, non-denominational church plant in the suburbs of Nashville.

Our ideal candidate has Student Ministry experience and skills for impact beyond student ministry, for helping us refine culture, broaden outreach, and shape the future of our church--including an upcoming move into a permanent facility.

Leading and Shepherding

  • Develop our student ministry with attention to both large group momentum and individual student discipleship.
  • Partner with other church staff members for developing culture within People of Hope Church.
  • Collaborate with other church staff members to design systems that help the church care for people relationally and spiritually. For example: assimilation, volunteer management, outreach, leadership development, and personal discipleship.
  • Take a consistent leadership role in Sunday gatherings for welcoming, prayer times, baptisms, and announcements.

Teaching and Equipping

  • Pray about, study for, and then creatively teach Biblical concepts customized for middle school and high school life—during midweek Hope Students gatherings.
  • Preach to the congregation when scheduled—approximately 8-12 times annually.
  • Partner with the Lead Pastor to create discipleship resources to inspire and equip the church.
  • Support and equip parents of teenagers.
  • Outreach through and with POH students—sharing the Gospel, reaching schools.
  • Promote opportunities for students to serve in the church and community.

Managing, Communicating, and Coordinating

  • Administer student ministry details for budgets, event planning, and excellent programming.
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents.
  • Develop a team of trained and invested student ministry volunteers.
  • Organize student ministry camps, mission trips, and special events.
  • Utilize social media to promote upcoming student programs and to share memories from student events.

Participating and Modeling

  • Attend all worship gatherings, staff meetings, and required church events.
  • Practice private spiritual disciplines for personal spiritual growth.
  • Partner with the Lead Pastor for ministering to the overall congregation.
  • Model passionate worship, personal integrity, and humble service.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to do whatever it takes to build Christ’s church.
  • Live above reproach in private, public, and on social media platforms.

About People of Hope Church

People of Hope is a modern, creative, Jesus-centered, non-denominational church plant in the suburbs of Nashville. Murfreesboro is one of the fastest-growing communities in the country—a wonderful place to raise a family. We are staff-led and elder-guided.

Our mission is to help people find hope in Jesus--leading them to know, love, and follow him.

Our logo connects to the heart of our vision. It is a modern take on a piece of stained glass. We want to be a current expression of God's church--modern, but still unashamedly and undeniably a church gathered around Jesus and his Word. Like a mosaic, God is making something beautiful from the broken pieces of our lives.
