Worship Leader

Reports To: Senior Pastor

Employment Status: Full-Time /exempt

Position Overview

Leads the congregation in worship and provides musical support for services and special events.

•Be a born-again follower of Jesus for at least 5 years.

•Cultivates a consistent time with the Lord in Bible study and prayer.

•Be theologically and doctrinally aligned with Southern Baptist beliefs and practice.

•Be a team player and work in unity and coordination with the church staff

•Have good people skills.

•Display integrity and live “above reproach” in life and community.

Responsibilities

•Lead worship during services and special events.

•Recruit, schedule, and mentor worship team volunteers.

•Recruit, schedule, and mentor all instrumentalists.

•Develop church musicians through coaching and rehearsals.

•Plan weekly music set with Senior Pastor.

•Maintain and update software used for presentation in worship service. This includes lyrics, announcements, sermon notes, etc.

•Organize choir rehearsals and development.

•Responsible for maintenance and servicing of music and sound equipment.

•Work with Technical Team to ensure consistent and high-quality sound during worship.

•Work alongside Technical Team to ensure new volunteers are recruited, trained, and rotated to promote excellence in worship services.

•Invest in the next generation through education and ministries designed to promote worship in college, youth, and kids’ ministries.

•Manage departmental budget

•Collaborate with Senior Pastor to ensure music aligns with church mission.

•Partner with other local worship leaders for special events and combined worship services.

•Gather and implement volunteer feedback.

•Assist church staff in pastoral care of the congregation (i.e., weddings, funerals, sick visitation, etc.).

•Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills Required

•Excellent communication skills.

•Experience leading worship in a church setting.

•Experience managing volunteers.

•Experience using worship-based technology and tools

Education/Experience

College degree in related field.

Seminary degree from a Southern Baptist school is not required but preferred. Practical experience of at least 5 years.

Ordination preferred but not required.

We are a growing congregation just under 500 currently in two worship services. We are located 90 minutes from the beaches in a county seat town in south central Alabama of 10,000 (35,000 in the county).
