Sixth Avenue Baptist Church (Birmingham, AL) is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Youth Leader with creative energy and a heart for helping middle and high school students discover Jesus, build a strong foundation of faith, and grow as leaders in the church and community.

This role is ideal for a college or seminary student pursuing youth-related studies or a young professional with youth experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Mentor and build meaningful relationships with students
• Teach and lead Youth Church, Bible studies, and small group
• Create engaging, relevant lessons and games that connect Scripture to everyday life
• Support student's spiritual growth and model healthy decision-making
• Organize youth events, retreats, and service projects
• Assist Director of Children & Youth with planning, scheduling, and communication

Qualifications:

• Passion for youth ministry and discipleship
• Experience working with adolescents in church, school, or urban community setting
• Strong relational and communication skills
• Commitment to Christian faith and spiritual growth
• Willingness to learn, grow, and collaborate as part of a ministry team

Time Commitment: Approximately 10–15 hours per week (including Sundays, midweek evenings, and occasional weekends)

Sixth Avenue Baptist Church is a multigenerational church of 2,000+ members located in the historic Titusville community of Birmingham, AL. With a rich history and strong commitment to Christian discipleship and service, the Church is seeking its next full time Pastor of Children and Youth (C Y) to execute the vision of children and youth ministries and ensure the spiritual growth of children and teens, ages 18 and younger. The ideal candidate is an innovative leader, experienced in urban youth development, youth evangelism, and multi-program management.
