First Baptist Church of Bay Minette is a Southern Baptist church located in Bay Minette, AL. As a mission minded church that loves Jesus and our community, we offer multiple worship services each week and have thriving ministries in worship, Sunday School, Student Ministries, Children’s Ministries, Senior Adults, Men’s and Women’s Mission groups, a Child Development Center, Communications, and Growth Groups. First Baptist Church functions as an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, operating under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. We cooperate with the Baldwin Baptist Association, the Alabama Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

The Associate Pastor, Music is responsible for assisting the church in planning and evaluating a comprehensive music ministry.

• Maintains and fosters a Christian environment at all times, including supporting all FBC staff, members, and guests in their mission to demonstrate Christ daily.
• Assist the pastor in all areas of the pastor’s work, as requested.
• Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of a comprehensive Music ministry.
• Coordinate the church’s Music Ministry with the calendar and emphases of the church.
• Collaborate with the Pastor, Administrator, and/or Music Committee to establish music ministry goals, structure, leadership, facilities, budget, and administrative procedures.
• Assist the pastor in planning the church’s congregational services; be responsible for selecting the music.
• Be aware of upcoming weddings and funerals at the church and be prepared to offer counsel.
• Arrange to provide music for special projects, ministries, and other church-related activities in cooperation with appropriate individuals or groups.
• Direct music groups and congregational singing.
• Be responsible for recruiting and training leaders for the church’s Music Ministry in coordination with the church’s Nominating Committee.
• Supervise the work of all music leaders in the Music Ministry.
• Work in cooperation with the appropriate persons, including the Nominating Committee, to select, enlist, train, and counsel song leaders, accompanists, and other musicians who serve in church program organizations.
• Coordinate the performance schedules of music groups and individuals for church functions.
• Provide direction for a Music Ministry visitation and enlistment plan.
• Supervise the maintenance and additions to the music library, as well as supplies, instruments, and other music equipment used in the church’s programs.
• Provide guidance and oversight to the AV/Sound Team and collaborate with the Communications Director to coordinate all visual aids for worship services.
• Stay updated on current music methods, material, promotion, and administration, and apply them when suitable.
• Perform any additional assigned duties.

General Requirements

• Have a clear calling from God to the ministry of First Baptist Church of Bay Minette.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in music, worship leadership, or a similar ministerial field.
• Minimum of five to seven years of experience in Music Ministry.
• Proven track record of successful music ministry growth.
• Willing to engage in outreach programs and support FBC’s ministries.
• Able to develop effective music programs and activities for all ages, from children to senior adults.
• Knowledge of video and music licensing standards and reporting is required; ProPresenter experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment without compromising the quality of care.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
