Mt. Washington Baptist Church is looking for a part-time Worship Leader who envisions corporate worship as an opportunity to expose people to a life with Jesus and helps disciples deepen their walk with Christ. The Worship Leader in coordination with the Pastor and the Worship Design Team, is responsible for planning and implementing meaningful and authentic expressions of worship. All candidates most possess a vital, and growing relationship with Jesus, can lead and coach a team of singers and musicians, embrace a wide variety of theologically sound music, and be able to encourage those gathered to lift their voices in praise. Our musical style is eclectic, bending towards non-liturgical. We are part of the American Baptist family of churches and theologically evangelical. Our members honor the Baptist tradition of the separation of church and state and embrace our tradition’s stance on equalitarianism. Worship Leader Responsibilities
Plan and lead weekly worship services
Select and arrange music for worship services
Coordinate and lead rehearsals with worship team members
Collaborate with pastors and other church staff to integrate the worship service theme
Facilitate congregational singing and participation
Oversee and mentor volunteer musicians and singers
Develop and implement worship plans for special services and events
Lead worship in a way that aligns with the church's vision and theology
Engage and encourage the congregation in meaningful worship experiences
Worship Leader Qualifications & Skills
Experience leading worship in a church setting
Strong vocal abilities
Knowledge of a wide range of worship music genres
Ability to read music and understand musical theory
Strong organizational and planning skills
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Experience with sound and multimedia equipment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A passion for worship and a desire to lead others spiritually
Strong understanding of worship practices and traditions
Ability to lead a team of musicians and singers
Preferred: Proficient in playing guitar and/or piano with the ability to lead while playing
Other Considerations
10-15 Hours per week, including Sunday worship, preparation and planning, rehearsals.
Pay will be commensurate with experience and education
Education scholarships are available for approved, position related training and/or degree pursuit.
