Summit is launching a new, fully integrated Summit campus at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR)—not a student ministry, but a full Summit Church expression for college students and young adults on a college campus!

The Opportunity

Summit Church has partnered with Aaron Hur Group (aaronhurgroup.com) to identify and recruit the founding Campus Pastor for Summit at UNR. This pioneering leader will have a seat and voice on Summit’s Core Leadership Team, launching and leading a new campus that reaches and disciples college students at one of Nevada’s most strategic and influential universities - UNR. This is not just your typical Campus Pastor role but will be a person that has a passion for this next generation of leaders and can connect with and reach college students. 

The Campus Pastor will:

• Launch a weekly Mid-Week Gathering on campus with live worship and teaching.
• Build and multiply college student Groups and Leadership Teams.
• Integrate college students into Summit’s weekend services and church-wide ministries.
• Develop a campus culture of discipleship, service, and leadership.

This is not a traditional “college student pastor” role—it’s an opportunity to build a Summit campus from the ground up and shape the next generation of leaders for the church and beyond.

CHURCH Overview

Summit Church is a dynamic nondenominational Christian church that is located in the northern part of the state of Nevada in the city of Sparks. Summit was planted in 1999, starting with only twenty five people meeting at the YMCA and has quickly grown to become one of the largest churches in Nevada. As the church grew, they eventually moved to their current 36-acre master planned campus, with an intentionally phased building plan, expanding to include a state of the art 1,500-seat auditorium in 2022.

Summit Church is listed as the 53rd fastest growing church in America by Outreach Magazine and is located in one of the least religious areas in the US which makes Summit a great place to do ministry! Summit celebrated 263 baptisms this last year, more than doubling from the previous year. With the recent spike in attendance of new believers and transplants to the area, Summit Church weekend services are averaging almost 2500+ people!

Summit Church places a high value on living the adventure that God has for all us and desires to connect with people in Sparks and the surrounding area.

Summit is planning to launch a new campus in early 2024. The new campus will be located in Fernley, NV only a short 45 minute drive from the Sparks campus.

To prepare to launch this campus, Summit Church is looking for a unique leader that will begin as the Adult Ministries Pastor, receive intentional coaching and mentorship, and then transition into the new Campus Pastor for Summit Church Fernley. The immersion of all things Summit will include working with the Spiritual Formation Team. During that time, part of the Adult Ministries Pastor’s responsibilities will be leading the group leaders and their groups from the Fernley area and will be actively recruiting a Campus Launch Team.

The Adult Ministries Pastor will have the opportunity to speak at the new Campus, with the potential opportunity to be a part of the Broadcast Teaching Team. This is a great opportunity to join a super fun and committed team working together to reach and disciple people.
